Bright paces back and forth in the living room. The mansion is as quiet as the graveyard when his mother is not around. They had a fight earlier and his mother got very upset because of his behaviour. Bright wants to cry, but he's stuck. He wants his mother to be back right now. He has been calling her for over an hour now, but she still hasn't picked up the phone.

The man is worried about her safety, especially when she's still weak because of her chemotherapy session three days ago. Bright is angry at himself for answering back to his mother when she lashed out at him. He presses the heels of his hands to his eyelids, wanting to just go back in time and take back what he said to her.

As he's about to sit back down on the sofa, he hears some movements at the front door followed by the jingling sound of keys. The door soon is swung open and Bright rushes towards it. His mother is standing at the door, looking somewhat cheerful, like they didn't even have a fight earlier on.

"Mae, I'm sorry!" Bright throws himself at the woman, who is almost two feet shorter than him, hugging her tightly.

Vanida Chivaaree sighs, wrapping her arms around her one and only baby. "I forgive you," she whispers. Bright pulls away from the hug almost immediately, shocked at what he just heard.

"Really?"

"Ow, are you asking for a smack on your head, Vachirawit Chivaaree?" Vanida glares at her son. Both of her hands are already resting on either side of her waist.

Bright nods and... SMACK! "Ouch, mae! That hurts!" He rubs his forehead, that's turning red now from the smack that his mother just gave him.

"You asked for it and I delivered," Vanida sassily replies, raising one of her eyebrows at the young man.

"I was joking, you don't have to do it for real," Bright pouts as he grabs his mother's hand and guides her to sit on the sofa.

Vanida rests her head on the back of the sofa, shifting a little to look at her son. "I'm still mad at you for spending a lot for the past week. Ten thousand baht for a t-shirt. Are you kidding me? What are you, a king?" She pinches Bright's cheek, and the man groans in return.

"Mae, I love the t-shirt. It's Oasis, mae, one of my favourite bands!" Bright beams, and his happiness dies down when another smack lands on his thigh. "Mae!"

Vanida huffs, crossing her arms to her chest. "Our lawyer told me about you consulting him to buy a store in the city, Wintage Store to be precise," she narrows her eyes at Bright. "Are you-What's wrong with you, Bright?"

"How-how do you know?" Bright's face goes pale when his mother already knew the secret.

"I'm the boss. I know everything. Just because I don't go to HYWC Building anymore, that doesn't mean I don't know what's happening there. Why do you want to buy the store?" She asks.

The question stuns Bright for a second. He actually doesn't know the real reason. Maybe it's because of all the stuff inside the store that screams his name every time he walks in. "I-well, I love vintage stuff. I want to buy them all," he ends up replying with a vague answer.

"Why don't you just buy all the stuff? Why did you have to talk to our lawyer into buying the store as well?" Vanida queries just like their lawyer, Mr. Naphat.

Bright fiddles with his fingers. "Erm, that..." He struggles to answer. "Mae! You know how I always get what I want! I want the store!" He pouts, complaining like a little kid.

"This idiot child of mine, I swear!" Vanida massages her temples in distress. "Tell me the real reason. Why do you want to buy the store? Or...do you like the owner of the store?" She leans closer to her son and smirks wickedly.
