After an emotionally exhausting dinner, Jennie felt the weight of her pain pressing down on her. As she made her way back to the hotel with Hyunji, she couldn't help but feel the need for some solace. The hotel room awaited them, concealing an array of different alcoholic beverages that Jennie had pre-ordered. It was almost as if she had foreseen this moment, knowing that she would need something stronger than words to numb her anguish.
Jennie's decision to keep her plans hidden from Alison and Hyunji was fueled by an overwhelming sense of indifference. At that moment, she simply didn't care about their concerns or opinions. All that mattered to her was finding an escape from the deep pain that tormented her soul. The alcohol provided her with a temporary respite, a blur of intoxicated bliss that allowed her to momentarily forget the heartache that gripped her.
"Jen..." Alison showed her disapproval after seeing the arrangement of the mini bar that suddenly appeared in her boss's room
"What? I guess being wasted here beats going to the bar, don't you think? Either way, I'm not going to let anyone stop me from having a good time"
"Oh my, my... Alright then, shall we begin the party?" Hyunji twined her arm around Jennie's waist and then walked toward the minibar.
Outnumbered, Alison had to admit the defeat. She swiftly grabbed her phone to tell Jisoo about the situation she was facing.
"Don't bother," Jennie said "I know you're about to tell them, don't" she ordered
"Tell whom?" Alison tried to hide the nervousness beneath her skin, "I was about to check your schedule for tomorrow" she explained, hoping Jennie would buy the excuse.
Jennie couldn't help but give her assistant a bombastic side-eye when she noticed the mischievous grin on their face. However, she knew better than to pry too much into their intentions. Instead, she allowed her attention to shift toward the delightful sight presented before her eyes - a table filled with an array of enticing booze.
Her mouth watered in anticipation as she scanned the selection, her eyes lingering on the sparkling champagnes, the rich red wines, and the vibrant cocktails. Each drink seemed to beckon her with its own unique allure. The thought of indulging in the velvety smoothness of a fine Scotch or the effervescence of a chilled glass of Prosecco was almost too much to resist.
Jennie's resolve weakened as she imagined the sweet release of a sip of the high-quality liquors that lay within her reach. The room seemed to fade into the background as her senses became hyper-focused on the tantalizing aromas wafting through the air. She could almost taste the nuanced flavors, the intricate balance of bitterness and sweetness that awaited her palate.
Unable to resist any longer, Jennie's self-control crumbled before the seduction of the spirits. She reached out and grabbed a glass, her fingers trembling with anticipation. As the liquid touched her lips, a wave of pleasure washed over her, momentarily erasing all thoughts and worries from her mind.
With each drink that she consumed, Jennie sought to drown herself in an abyss of intoxication. The burning sensation of the liquor on her tongue served as a distraction from the emotional turmoil raging within her. She knew that this was not a healthy or sustainable way to cope, but in that desperate moment, it seemed like the only option. The emptiness that lingered within her could only be filled by the numbing effects of alcohol, at least for a little while.
"I lost, didn't I?" Jennie's vision already blurred, her eyes stung as she took a deep breath to try and steady her emotion but her tears failed the effort miserably.
Jennie asked something that made Hyunji's happy face turn serious. Hyunji looked at Jennie closely and noticed that she seemed a bit vulnerable, even though she was trying to hide it. This sudden change in mood made Hyunji feel both worried and curious.
