It's been a month since I last talked to Charlie. I started noticing him being more happy and more cheerful, which was weird because he was already a happy guy . But this happy was different-it was almost fake. I knew for a fact when it was fake when I noticed fresh cuts on his wrist one day.
Flashback (may be triggering, but only towards the end of the flashback)
I had woken up from my slumber with tear stains littering my eyes from the previous night, it was only yesterday since the incident at Charlie's house. I've realised that I was just over-reacting because it wasn't like we were dating or anything, we were just really good friends. I still felt like shit though, I guess I was just being over protective or something like that.
I got ready for school wearing the usual outfit- black skinny jeans, a grey t-shirt and a blue and white flannel with my black vans- and didn't eat breakfast like usual. I left the house only to be welcomed with a cold breeze.
I walked to Summer's house and went up to her front door and noticed it was ajar, so I just walked in. She was by the dinner table rummaging through her school bag as if she was searching for something. "What are you looking for?"
"I'm trying to find my homework for Mr.Wicker's class, but I can't find it anywhere!"
"Ok calm down, you can look for it in first period but we can't be late for school" I assured while walking closer to her. She sighed.
"You're right......Ok lets go then." She slung her bag over her shoulders and we linked arms while walking out of the door.

Once we got to school there was someone I wasn't expecting to see-Charlie's girlfriend. I see Charlie leaning against his car talking to Laurie that was now wearing a white dress with floral patterns scattered across it with red high heels. They were holding each others hands while swinging them side to side.
They started kissing.
I stopped in my tracks stunned by it. But why? We weren't dating or anything, I have to stop thinking that I own him or something because that's not the case at all.
"What's wrong" Summer then looked towards me. "Nothing, I just um remembered I had homework too, I left it at home". I gave her a small smile.
"Well fuck, hope the teacher won't get as mad at you like how mad Mr.Wicker's will be at me". We started walking until Summer spoke again and continued to natter on.
When I got to first period I reilised that I was going to have to sit next to Charlie, this is going to be awkward. I started getting panicy just thinking about it, but I manged to calm myself down. You're not going to control me today.
I saw Charlie walk into the classroom, he made eye contact with me for a just a moment before looking down. I thought Charlie was going to come sit next to me giving me the chance to apoligize for what I had done yesterday, but instead he sat next to Luke.
