Riki is nice to them whenever he sees them, and he almost always apologizes for his friends. And Sunghoon wonders, why hang out with people you feel the need to apologize on behalf of?
But Riki is a big boy who can make his own decisions, so he leaves well enough alone.
What he doesn't leave alone is the fact that Shota's birthday is coming up soon. And so he does something stupid. Something he never thought he would.
He opens his text messages to a thread last used a few weeks ago.
On one impromptu group chat that Shota had made with Riki added to it.
He finds Riki's contact and hits on a private conversation,

For half a second, Sunghoon worries if Riki will try to invite along his boyfriend or other friends. But he knows he wouldn't extend a welcome that Sunghoon hadn't granted. And that he isn't socially clueless enough not to pick up on the animosity between the two friend groups.
Sunghoon finds himself looking forward to the weekend.

"Dear Shota.... Happy birthday to you!"
The 13 friends, the birthday boy included, finish singing. Shota closes his eyes and puts his hands together. Then he blows out the candles atop the convenience-store-bought cake.
Keeho and Heeseung both gather a dollop of cream on their pointer finger and then smears it onto Shota's nose. He backs up like he expects retaliation, but his 'victim' only swipes at his own nose and then pops his finger into his mouth.
"Yum. buttercream!"
"How does it feel to be a one year older?" Jongseob teases indulgently.
"Like the seven months between our ages matter a lot," he shoots back at the youngest with a smile.
"I know you begged us not to for us not do any presents, and we all agreed we wouldn't but-" Sunghoon begins, only to be cut off by loud booing from the rest of the group.
"Don't make us look bad," Keeho complains.
"-If you would let me finish, I was just saying that's why me and Jiung booked out the skating rink for all of us."
The boo-s turn to cheers, Everyone excited to be able to get to not only see Sunghoon in action, but also have fun on ice together.
"Shota you've been wanting to learn how to ice skate so now hoonie can teach you" Jiung continues
