(A/N: Check the description once again! I changed it! And also, I don't own any of the characters, unless I make some up, like Lyre, Braydon, and David. :))
~3rd Person POV~
After the Giant War, Chiron let Percy and Annabeth teach the other campers whatever they wanted to teach them. Percy wanted to teach swordsmanship, since Luke and Quintus/Dandalus are gone. Annabeth wanted to teach the campers how to read and build schematics.
Everything was going fine until one day...
-------
Percy and Annabeth had just finished teaching their final class. As teachers, they got to go wherever they wanted. So, they sat at the Poseidon table in the Dining Pavilion.
Annabeth was rambling on about a new blueprint she and Leo were working on, and of course, Percy wasn't listening. Why? He was looking at an unfamiliar girl, which was weird to him. He knew every single demigod in camp because he taught them all. But why didn't he know her?
Percy studied her appearance more carefully. She had long, straight, brown hair and wore a grey, faded Camp Half-Blood shirt and grey jeans. She looked normal, other than her plain, grey outfit.
Oh, and her pale skin, that was almost white.
And, hey! Don't forget her sad, brown eyes!
Annabeth stopped talking, realizing Percy wasn't even listening. She followed his gaze, which led to nothing. She looked back at him and then waved her hand in his face. "Hello?"
Percy jumped, snapping back to reality. "Oh, sorry."
"What are you looking at?" His girlfriend asked.
"That girl over there. Do you recognize her?" He asked, pointing to the girl.
Annabeth looked where he pointed. She cocked her head. "What girl?"
Percy pointed again. "That girl, with the brown hair."
Annabeth looked again.
Nothing.
She smacked him on the arm, causing him to yelp. "Hey! What was that for?!" He asked.
"Not funny." Annabeth said, crossing her arms.
"What? You think this is a joke?! You don't see her?" He asked.
Annabeth rolled her eyes and kissed him on the cheek. "Later, Seaweed Brain." She said, then walked off.
'That was weird...' Percy thought. He mentally shrugged and walked over to the girl.
"Hey, what's your-" Percy stopped mid-sentence. The girl was backing away in fear. Percy motioned for her to stop. "I'm not going to hurt you, if that's what you think." He said.
The girl looked a little more relaxed and had stopped backing away.
"Are you new here?"
The girl was about to shake her head, but then she shrugged.
"You don't know if you're new here or not?"
She nodded.
"Alright, can you tell me your name?"
The girl shook her head and pointed at her throat. She moved her lips, but no sound came out.
"You can't talk?" Percy asked.
She nodded sadly in response.
"Alright, um, can you try to make your name with your hands?"
The girl sighed, and began to try.
"Okay, that's an L. That's a... Y? That's a P... No, that's an R. And that's a E?"
The girl nodded at the L, Y, R, and E.
"Your name is Lyre?"
She nodded again.
"Isn't that an instrument?"
She sighed and nodded.
"Percy, who are you talking to?" Someone behind Percy asked.
Percy turned around to see, almost, the whole camp behind him. The person who asked was Jason.
"Her." He pointed at Lyre, who smiled sadly and waved, knowing that they wouldn't see her either.
"Who?" Will Solace asked.
Percy groaned. "You can't see her either?"
Everyone shook their heads slowly, looking at him like he was mad.
Percy turned back to Lyre. "Do you know why they can't see you?"
She shook her head, pointed and Percy, then pointed at her eye.
"I'm the only one who can see you?"
She nodded.
"Well, that sucks."
"Percy, I think you might be seeing things." Will said. "You probably need some rest."
Percy turned back around to Will and the camp. "I'm not seeing things, I'm seeing a girl!" Percy exclaimed, getting a little angry.
Chiron looked and Piper, and nodded.
Piper's kaleidoscope eyes locked with Percy's sea green ones. "Percy, don't you feel tired?" She asked, lathering her voice with charmspeak.
Percy's eyelids began to feel heavy. "Yes." He agreed, almost passing out.
Almost.
Lyre put her cold hand on Percy's arm, causing him to jolt out of the trance. He turned back and mouthed 'Thank you'. She smiled and nodded in response.
"What the heck, Piper?! Why did you do that?" He asked, shocking everyone, especially Piper. She put so much charmspeak in it, some people beside her actually fell asleep. And it wasn't even directed to them!
Lyre heard someone behind her and turned around. There was boy with a frying pan in his hand, creeping towards Percy. He had black hair, black eyes, and wore an aviator jacket. The strange thing about him was that the shadows seemed to gather around him.
He looked unsure and confused. He was probably unsure of what he was going to do, but who knows why he was confused?
Lyre snapped back to reality and frantically tapped Percy on the shoulder. He stopped mid-sentence and turned around.
"Okay, yes, that's true but-" Percy paused, feeling urgent taps on his shoulder. He turned around, only to meet a frying pan to the face.
And so, he passed out.
