NYX'S POV
Chris had called every morning and every night for the past two weeks. It didn't matter what time, and if I didn't answer he'd just leave a voicemail and then text me. Today when he called I was in the middle of editing a new work in progress."Okay, I need to read this out loud just so I can make sense of it, you ready?" I asked him as I stared at my screen. I had him on FaceTime on my laptop, but hadn't paid any mind to him really as I typed and edited.
"Am I about to get a full porn scene?" A fair question.
"No, just the beginning. I'm not sure if I worded this right. His hand grips my throat as he pins me to the wall. I swallowed hard. "If you're going to kill me just fucking do it, you coward," I choked out. He only grinned and shook his head. That damn grin. It would be my death sentence. "No, my love. I don't want to kill you," he said softly. "I want to keep you. I want your every waking hour, every breath. I want to show you off, but keep you locked up at the same time. I want to keep you from the world, because to know such beauty exists is simply a sin. I want to show you off because I want people to know whose name you moan as you touch yourself at night." He bit down on my jawline. "You think I didn't see you shove your fingers in your cunt, moaning my name into the darkness of your room? My dear, I see it all. I see you." And scene." Chris remained silent, his eyes wide. "So? Does it all make coherent sense?"
"I mean, I don't know. I think you need to read it to me again, but go more into detail. Does this girl happen to have dark hair that goes down to her lower back, piercing green eyes, about five foot two?" He was describing me. "And this guy? Maybe he has tattoos, purple hair, and a music career?" He cocked his head to the side and smiled. Though, I did imagine him as I wrote it. I threw an M&M at the screen and he laughed.
"Maybe, maybe not. You will just have to buy the book to figure it out."
"Speaking of buying books," he rested his head on his fist, "where is book two, Nyx? I gotta know if they make it back to each other!" I shook my head. "Come on, Nyx, just do it yourself. Put it on Amazon."
"I could get kicked off my publishers team if I did that. It's a conflict." I popped an M&M into my mouth, then reached over to the printed out manuscript of book two. "But... I did think about it, and I printed book two out for you, and only you, to read." His brown eyes lit up. "You have to promise me no one will get their hands on this, though."
"I swear it," he promised.
"I'll mail it to you when you get home." Chris rubbed his tattooed neck, then looked at me through the camera.
"Actually I was thinking maybe I could come out there and spend some time with you when tour is over. Get to know you a little more. Surely you could take some time away from your computer." I bit my lip as I thought on it, then checked my calendar. I had a book signing next week, and no deadlines coming up. I could make it work...
"Yeah, for sure! I have five bedrooms, I don't see why you couldn't stay in one of them. No need for a hotel or anything."
"Or I could stay in your room with you?" I could feel myself blushing at the thought of him even stepping foot in my bedroom. "I'm just kidding, relax." His grin said otherwise. "I have a couple days off coming up, as well. Maybe you could come out here and hang out, catch the show?"
"Oh, I don't think so. I have some deadlines coming up," I lied, "and to get a plane ticket on such short notice would be practically impossible. The cost would be insane."
"Let me worry about the cost of the plane and the hotel. All you need to worry about is bringing yourself," he sighed, "and I guess your laptop." I let out a small laugh, then stood up from my chair outside. "You know, whenever I agreed to see you I didn't think it'd be a package deal with you and your Mac Book." I carried the laptop inside with me and placed it down on the counter.
