•Best Surprise Ever!•

Since football season has started back up Jalen's been as busy as ever, working out, practicing, traveling, playing.

Which is hard on our kids, we have two, a boy and a girl, S/n is twelve and D/n is five.
S/n is a little better at understanding why his dad is so busy lately, he himself wants to play football someday, so he takes a lot of pointers from his dads workouts, meals, etc.
However, D/n, doesn't understand why he's so busy, so she gets more upset when she doesn't see him before bed, or as soon as she wakes up.

"Good Morning my love." Jalen smiled as he walked into the house, his suit case in suit behind him.
"You're home!" I wasted no time in jumping into my man's arms.
We've been married for three years now, in total we've been together for thirteen years, but I still greet him just as I did when we first started dating, I still get to excited to see my gorgeous man walking through the front door.

"I've missed you." He laughed connecting our lips.
"Mmm I've missed you so much more." He'd only been gone for the weekend, but it was still a very long weekend.

"That's impossible." He smirked as he began up the steps with me still in his hold.
"No, it's pretty possible."
"Nope."
"Yep."
"Nope."
"Yep."
"No-"
Jalen cut me off by his lips connecting with mine, the kiss got very heated very quickly, safe to say he always wins the arguments.

"I win." He chuckled as he finally pulled away allowing me to take a much needed breath.
"Shut up." I giggled pushing his face away from me.
"Mmm make me." I've missed Jalen a lot, his schedule has been so busy, we've had no time for us two, it's just been football games and spending time with the kids, I've missed these moments with him.

"No sir, I have food on the stove." I smirked as I watched his face drop.
"What're you still doing up here?!?" He shouted quickly running out of the room, I fell back on the bed in a fit of laughter.
There's no food on the stove.

"Y/n." Jalen walked into the room with his head hung.
"HA HA."
"That's not funny!" He threw himself on top of me.
"Jesus."
"My names Jalen."
"Shut up." I laughed as he buried his head in my neck.
"Again, make me." I felt his lips make contact with my neck.
"Shhh go to sleep."
"Yes ma'am." He pressed a final kiss to my neck.
I didn't expect him to actually go to sleep, but he did.
I didn't mind, I knew he was jet lagged.

"Jalen." I smiled as I rolled over and made direct eye contact with his gorgeous brown ones.
I'd fallen asleep not long after him, it was nice to wake up next to him again.

"Hey sleeping beauty." He pressed a kiss to my nose.
"The kids will be home soon." I looked at the clock on the wall.
"I have surprises for them." Jalen sat up and grabbed a bag off of the floor.

"Do you?"
"Mhm."
Jalen held up a game ball signed by Jason Kelce and D'Andre Swift, the two players our son admired as much as he did Jalen.

"He might pass out." Our son had a tendency to be a drama queen, he gets it from me.
"Maybe." Jalen laughed as he pulled out a tiara, a real one at that, it was a silver tiara with three emeralds on it, for D/n of-course.
She was constantly walking around with my jewelry on, friendship bracelets she made, we all have one, she just loves accessories.

"D/n will never take it off." I giggled as I admired the expensive tiara.
"What's in there?" I questioned, there was a small red box in the bag.
"A surprise for my gorgeous wife." He smiled.
My eyes lit up, it wasn't unusual for Jalen to get me something, but I was still surprised.

"Close your eyes."
I closed my eyes, the silence in the room was so loud, I waited patiently.
"Open."
In my hand laid an emerald ring, can you tell my favorite stone is emerald?

An emerald ring carved with our initials.
"Jalen." I gasped in awe as I admired the green beauty in my hand.
Jalen took a hold of my left hand sliding the ring onto my ring finger, it looked perfect next to my wedding ring and engagement ring.
"Thank you."
"I love you."
"I love you more."

"MOM?" S/n called as he walked into the house, I'd been in the kitchen preparing dinner, the kids were always so hungry when they got home.
"Kitchen, love."
"Momma!" He smiled as he hugged me from behind.
"Hi baby." The little things made me so happy.
"Today I got an A on my math test!" He held up his math test.
"I'm so proud of you." I smiled as I scanned over the paper.
"Good job buddy." Jalen walked into the kitchen, a loud gasp left S/n mouth as he jumped into Jalen's arms.

Jalen's POV:

"Dad! I didn't know you were coming home!" S/n smiled as I lifted him up, I missed him so much.
"Surprise!" I placed him back on the ground and grabbed the test Y/n laid on the counter.
"I did it all by myself! I didn't ask for any help!" S/n sounded so proud if himself, if only he knew how proud Y/n and I were of him.
"This is amazing kiddo, good job." I knew I had to do something to reward him.

"Thanks dad." He made his way back to his mom and begged her for a bite of whatever it was that she was making, it made me laugh, she told him 'no' the same way she did to me, and he made the same face I did.

I watched the two interact, I never noticed these kinds of things, I'm always gone or busy, I never realized that I don't stop to just watch my family, to be in the moment with them...
I've gotta do better.

"Jalen!" Y/n snapped her fingers in front of my face.
"Yes my love?"
"Yuck." S/n gagged at the name.
"Oh hush." She pushed his face away.
"Wanna go out and wait for D/n with us?" She asked with a small smile on her face.
I nodded my head, she knew me too well, she could tell I was in my head, she knows me better than I know myself.

"Dad come on! I wanna show you this trick I learned!" S/n ran out the door with his football.
One of many, should I add.

"Now S/n! I told you that is dangerous!" Y/n called, which started a small dispute between the two again, making me laugh again.
The way they argue back and forth is just like her and I do, he gets that back talk from me.

"Listen to your mom kiddo, we can't have you getting injured." I threw the ball towards him, it amazed me at how high he jumped to catch the ball.
"DADDY!" D/n screamed, I didn't even realize her bus had arrived, I was so caught up in the game with S/n.

"Hi princess." I smiled, lifting her up.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming home?" She sounded so much like Y/n.
"Cause I wanted to surprise you!"
"Best surprise ever!" She giggled kicking her feet.
I placed her back on the ground, and engulfed both of them in a hug.

Y/n's POV:

I watched Jalen hug the kids, he may not be present 24/7, and he may not be dad of the year in your eyes, but to our kids and I, he's the best dad on earth.
