Emma's POV
I parked my car in front of the school and stepped out, grabbing my books and walked inside the building where I met up with Kenzie. She wore her usual style. She wore a Cookie Monster crop top with a loose white tank top underneath it and her black skinny jeans that only had rips at the knees and then her hiking boots. Her perfect long hair that I am sooooo jealous of, hung freely in their natural waves. I'm not going to lie, I've always loved her style, but my parents don't, so I wouldn't dare wear it.

"Aye boo!" She shouted.

"Hey, Kenzie!" I cheered, tackling her in our best friend hug. We've been best friends since we were in 3rd grade and I was getting picked on by this guy that still doesn't like me and Kenzie spilled her milk on him during lunch and told him to leave me alone. That, of course, only worked for the rest of the week, and he was back to messing with me, but she's had my back ever since.

We were startled when we heard loud laughing and looked over to the boy's bathroom where we saw the four pranksters of the school practically tumbling out of the restroom, laughing hysterically, but then running wildly and quickly when my math teacher came running after them, covered in, what I'm guessing to be toilet water.

"Gosh. When will those boys grow up?" I rolled my eyes.

"C'mon, don't you find it the least bit attractive?" Kenzie smirked, nudging my side with he elbow.

"Nope. I don't swoon over immature children."

"Of course you don't." She laughed. "But who knows, maybe they're not as immature as you think." She smirked.

"Dude, they pretty much made a toilet explode while Mr. Peterson was using it."

"They're just having some fun."

"Fun doesn't get you into college."

"Hey, since when did you become the school's mother?" She laughed.

"Shush. C'mon, let's get to class." I said, walking to chemistry.

While in there, Amanda Pearson, handed Kenzie a note with a smirk on her face. Oh gosh, what could this be about?

I read the note to myself while Kenzie did too. It was in a joke, but it made fun of Kenzie's anger problems and her past. Kenzie and Amanda were really close friends a couple years ago. Me and her knew about Kenzie's past and how it haunts her and pains her.

Amanda left us when her popularity got to her head, you know, the usual teenage friend drama and stuff, and she didn't care about Kenzie's feelings anymore. So Amanda uses Kenzie's weakness against her just to get her in trouble and just to hurt.

I watched as Kenzie's fists clenched and she breathed heavily. This can't be good.

When we were dismissed from class, we all raced out.

As me and Kenzie walked through the hall, Amanda shoved into her.

"Oh my gosh! Kenzie! I am so sorry! Don't beat me up!" She said, with a smirk on her face.

"Whatever." Kenzie rolled her eyes, shoving through Amanda and her followers.

"Whoa! You are not going to just walk away, Kenzie! I said sorry! Don't get an attitude!"

"I'm trying to get to class! So why don't you go fix your clown makeup so you'll look okay for the circus!"

And that's when it alllllll happened.

Amanda made the bad decision of slapping Kenzie, because that started the whole fight that Kenzie was winning as usual. But I was stuck in it. Kenzie pushed me to get me out of it, but a crowd of kids were circled around us, only shoving me back in.

"Break it up!" My chemistry teacher shouted loud enough for possibly the whole school to hear.

He pushed through all the wild kids, and his eyes darkened when he saw Kenzie and Amanda, but then were filled with shock when he saw me.

"Come with me." He ordered sternly.

"Tell me exactly what happened." Principal Williams said when we were in his office.

"Sir, I did nothing wrong. I just bumped into Kenzie and started throwing punches at me. I even apologized!" Amanda cried.

"THAT IS NOT-"

"Oh c'mon Kenzie, you know what you did!" Amanda cut her off.

"Yes I do, but it certainly wasn't that!"

"Girls, calm down. How was Emma apart of this?"

"She-"

Kenzie was once again interrupted by Amanda, who said "Emma was helping Kenzie. They were ganging up on me even though I did NOTHING!"

While Kenzie was practically blessing her out, I just slouched in my chair, nervous of what I might say, I knew that Amanda could use my words and twist them in some way.

"C'mon, Principal Williams. I am a lot of teachers' favorites, I would never lie and you know that." Amanda said. "And you know that Kenzie is all fists and clenched teeth..."

"Alright, that's enough, Miss Pearson." Principal Williams scolded. "Look, I don't know what that fight was all about. But I do know that it should not have happened. I have no choice but to give you three detention after school today for four hours."

"Four hours?!" I exclaimed the first sentence I'd said since I'd first went in there.

"Yes, four hours. I'll see you after school. You may go."

"Nice going." Amanda muttered to us before walking out and letting the door shut in our faces.

We just rolled our eyes and opened it back up, entering the hallway.

My first detention. I'm going to have to stay close to Kenzie...

Four hours? Since when is detention four hours?? I guess we're painting sets and it's going to take a lot more time than that..
