Vampires were known to bite their victims on one side of their neck, but what many didn't consider was the fact that the neck alone had a lot of veins to choose from. The bloodsucking immortals don't just bite to satiate their thirst. Sometimes, they bite for the sake of making someone part of the undead or to ensure their livestock remains alive so they can return for another drink.
However, it could mean differently when a member of the House of Elders chose a specific spot to bite a specific human...
Upon learning of what happened to his 'pupil', Raviel immediately went to the infirmary to inspect his condition. The moment he entered the room, he could already smell the scent of the cat, and his expression automatically mirrored what he felt about this.
Grabbing Abel's forearm, Raviel turned it around and his gaze went straight to where the ulnar artery was located. The wrist. Pulse. It was known that there were tendons there that could get in the way and only those with special fangs to break through them favored this place. The Elders specifically choose this place to bite those they tend to keep by their side for a long time.
"Explain."
"Explain what?!"
Raviel raised his wrist on his face, "He bit you."
Sure enough, there were two tiny holes spaced a bit apart on his wrist. "Am I going to die?"
"Not yet," Raviel let go of his arm. "He bit you but he didn't drink your blood. He intended to mark you."
"Mark me for what?"
"As his property. That mark will serve as a warning to all other vampires that you belong to HIM. No one would dare try and harm you now unless they were foolish enough to risk being torn limb by limb by that cat. On top of that, he also left you, his scent. I'm guessing, you know exactly how he did that..."
Abel swallowed hard. Literally and figuratively. All he could remember was that...kiss. He couldn't recall being bitten. "What's going to happen now?"
Raviel leaned on the wall, crossed his arms over his chest, and watched him. "I'm curious."
Lexus and Milo who were standing behind Abel were curious too. "Curious in what?" Abel repeated.
"How in the world did you end up on his radar?"
"Same question," Lex muttered, raising his hand and Milo did the same, then nodded in agreement.
Abel's gaze switched from the people behind him and the person leaning on the wall, staring back at him. "I'm confused. Are we talking about the same person?"
"You tell me," Raviel said. "You're the one who got bitten."
"I didn't even know he bit me!" He was beginning to get frustrated. "Look, that snow leopard came into my balcony and I thought he was someone's pet. He was playing with me, licking me, and I was petting him---"
Milo grimaced. "You've pet him? Ha! I can't wait for his brothers to hear that..."
But Raviel was still not convinced. "How did you know he was the snow leopard?"
"He wasn't?"
His guardian scowled. "He is. Now, how did you know?"
Abel shrugged. "I figured it out. I mean, they have the same intense stare."
Raviel gave him a long and hard look, one that made Abel doubt even his own existence. "Iris Alexiel Laiho. That's his name. Seeing that you're hanging out with a raven and a fox, I think by now you already figured out that he is a member of the House of Elders."
