Fire.
Another dream.
Or was it a nightmare?
Abel woke from the sound of the phone ringing on his bedside table. For a while, it reminded him of the time he was at the academy but the ache all over his body and the added weight of an arm around him made him realize that he wasn't. As he yawned and stretched, he found that he was wearing decent clothes. The person beside him wasn't. And the moment he laid eyes on him, the events last night came slamming back with a sharper clarity.
Iris. He never thought a vampire could sleep so soundly beside him. Though they weren't required to, since they could definitely last without sleeping for even a year. They enjoyed the perks of snoozing every once in a while, especially after a rather 'busy' activity. Abel thought that it wasn't so bad. It wasn't as painful as Milo described it to be. Or maybe Iris went easy on him. Despite Milo knocking on their door to remind them of dinner, they chose to skip it. Not only did the cat stay connected to him for a long while, he didn't actually stop there. They made love the whole night. He recalled how their bodies intertwined like ribbons twisting together. With the primal wildness satisfied, they lingered longer, exploring each other's bodies. How one person would react to the other's touch. Surprisingly, they were more than compatible in so many ways that cycling the night through different patterns proved much more enjoyable than a challenge. Abel could hardly remember when he grew exhausted and finally gave in to sleep. But he never regretted giving himself to the cat even if he was more mischievous than he ever was last night...
"Hello?" Abel did his best to sound normal but his voice didn't come out as such. The person on the other line though exhaled loudly to let him know what kind of suffering he went through.
"Seriously, are you guys trying to make a baby or what?" Milo didn't hold back and laid it out there beautifully. Abel imagined that Lexus was listening closely.
Iris regarded him with tired, squinty eyes, wondering at the sudden motion. "Is that the fox?" he asked, grinning and yawning at the same time.
Abel runs his fingers through his hair playfully before answering the fox. "Don't be mad. Is it time for breakfast?"
"Are you coming down for breakfast?" Milo returned the question sounding skeptical that Abel could almost imagine what he looked like.
"Yes, I'm hungry."
"Oh really? Fine. Tell your cat he will pay for breakfast and I want mine ala carte!"
Abel was chuckling when he put the phone down. Milo may have avoided knocking on the door and decided to use the service phone in the room to wake them up. Iris snuggled in his arms like a cat and Abel thought he was for a short moment. Sometimes, he found himself resisting the urge to ask him to turn into a leopard so he could experience cuddling one just once.
"How are you feeling?" Iris muttered after some silence.
"I'm all right, thank you for asking," Abel leaned down and brushed his lips on his forehead. "Get up, get dressed. The fox and the raven won't forgive us if we skip again."
"I thought you were so tired you may want to go back to sleep," Iris teased, running a hand along his body, from his waist to his thigh.
"I'm hungry."
Iris wasn't dismayed and sat up immediately. This was one of the things Abel adored about this vampire. Whatever he decided, Iris would grant it. No questions asked. No argument was needed. It was always him who would come first.
But that didn't mean he wouldn't dare try. "Do you want to shower together?"
