Two weeks later.

Amused. Raviel continued to stare at the new blood the humans had sent as their representative for this semester. He had never seen someone so visibly afraid yet went here without an idea of what kind of monsters he would be dealing with. To describe the lad, he was actually more beautiful than handsome, with small, beaded eyes, an accentuated nose, and full pink lips set in a face with a well-defined jawline. The skin was so radiantly fair that he was practically shining, it was also easy to tell when his face was flushed with embarrassment.

If it weren't for his masculine figure and the fact that he was impressively tall, his androgynous features could actually be the main course for several predators lurking at bay.

"Tell me honestly, do you have any idea what you've gotten yourself into?" Raviel asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"Not exactly," Abel said in all honesty. He was scared, yes. But not like he could go back, pack his belongings, and tell those detectives that he had a change of heart. "But, I'm willing to learn."

"Willing to learn, huh? You do understand this is a vampire lair, right?"

"It was explained to me, yes."

"I can tell you're very scared."

Abel moistened his lips. "Vampires are everywhere. I'd rather face you now than later. Besides, you can't touch me. I represent the unification treaty."

Raviel suppressed a grin as he placed his elbows on the desk, his hands clasped and rested under his chin. This kid was afraid but not entirely a coward. Naïve? Perhaps. Nevertheless, I did come across an unpolished gem, eh? Raviel thought and was satisfied with this discovery. "You know, you'll be a perfect partner for him..."

His remark made Abel's brows furrowed. "Who?"

"Nothing," Raviel dismissed his own thoughts and proceeded to rummage in one of his desk's drawers. He produced a thick black book and a pen, putting them on the desk and sliding them towards Abel, he beckoned the lad to come closer. "Sign your name here," he pointed to the page where the book was opened. "I am your appointed guardian; you are free to ask me anything you need to know about this place. If you get into any trouble, I will know. So please, refrain from getting into one. Try your best to get on the good side of your professors. After all, the score they will give you regarding your character still makes up twenty percent of your final assessment by the end of the first semester. Are we clear?"

Abel was still holding the pen, and at the same time, was trying to listen to his rather long and monotonous dialogue when the question came up. His mind was drawing blank, unable to keep up, and very much wanted to know more about the vampire coven but didn't know where to start.

"What's the matter?" Raviel asked, "Did you forget your name?"

"Oh, sorry..." Abel paused again when he got to the part where he had to write down a contact number.

"What is it again?"

"Er, can I have your number too?"

Raviel stared. "We're not going to be text mates."

Abel couldn't help scowling, missing the way Raviel's lips curled into a mild grin. "I am not going to text you every day! You're my mentor, it's only natural I'll call you first if anything happens to me."

"If anything happens to you?"

"Yes! Like getting eaten by one of your kind, for example?"

"I thought you're so confident that you're protected because you represent the unification treaty?"
