It was raining hard and the wind was blowing leaves in all directions. They parked their van in front of a diner near the filling station. According to Abel, they could stop wherever they would like since the smartwatch had a tracking device connected to Judy's. They were now torn whether this was a trap but Abel assured them that both Judy and Delbert were trustworthy.

The holographic sign in front of the diner continued to dance in an ocean of light. They found a table near the window and since the Elders hadn't had a fill of blood and their 'supplies' were clearly running out, they were forced to eat human food, and they decided to have a feast. Even CC who usually behaved ladylike had forgotten all manners and took a huge bite of the bacon and cheeseburger, not caring about a couple of teenagers at the snack bar watching her with utter disgust, wondering how a beautiful face could act such a glutton.

There was a television at the diner and news about what happened to the hotel had quickly gained attention. As expected, they were relating the attacks to the shtriga and a vampire representative had already spoken that they agreed to cooperate with the human government to arrest the culprit as soon as possible. Not knowing the 'culprits' were actually inside the diner.

However, they were also aware of what was behind the news. Of course, everything that had been said and declared was only to calm the rest and was contingent on the law being faithfully observed. None within the human's or the vampire's side were foolish enough to create such a scandal as to lose the privilege they were obtaining from one another.

"Are you certain about these human friends of yours?" Milo asked Abel again, his mouth was filled with food making Iris grimace at his lack of etiquette.

Abel simply shrugged. "We've faced more danger for the last few days, what's the worst we could find?"

Upon hearing this, they all gathered that Abel made a point and none could comment any further.

To Abel, it seemed that his grandmother's decision to allow him to be inside Saint Constantine wasn't completely a mistake. Outside, he felt like he had exchanged one gilded cage for another. There was no freedom for him no matter where he went. Even being away from Saint Constantine, he felt invisible chains binding him to that place. It must be because it was the place of his birth. Where he and his twin brother Cain were created. He was dwelling in these thoughts when the door chimed and opened, revealing three figures who seemed well-dressed for such a shabby diner.

Glancing around, Judy found Abel and stood transfixed at his companions.

Elders---and there was more than one of them

Beside him sat a familiar face that played in between the devil's advocate and the devil himself.

Impossibly pure blue eyes stared back at her. The soft light reflected beneath his gaze made him appear intimidating and those vertical and shaped-like slits pupils narrowed and become emphasized the deeper she glanced into it. She never once thought she would encounter one someday, but she didn't mind a chance. Jessen was an exemption since he had always regarded himself as someone free or stray. But this young man was something else...

The power emanating from Iris was overwhelming.

"Judy, Delbert," Abel whispered and stifled a gasp to see Jessen following behind them. So, they were truly together? This wasn't a trap at all...

"Well, what do we have here?" asked Delbert. But once he saw Iris' arm hovering protectively at the back of Abel's chair, he was dumbfounded. Well, this was unexpected. He added to himself.

"Seriously, this is the place you picked?" Jessen squeezed himself beside Lexus who was forced to give him space. Both Judy and Delbert asked for some extra chairs.
