"Quite surprising that you asked me to hang out, even though it hasn't been that long since we last met," Chaewon remarked, her eyes locking onto Y/N with a playful yet inquisitive gaze. "Whatever could this possibly be about?"

He leaned back in his chair. "Stop with the bluff, Chaewon-ah. I know that you know why we're both here."

"Honestly, I don't know," Chaewon replied, her voice laced with feigned innocence.

"You met up with Kazuha recently, didn't you?" His gaze was unrelenting.

"Maybe I did? Or maybe I didn't?" Chaewon teased, her lips curving into a mischievous smile. "Besides, she's in Japan. How could I have met her face to face when we're in different countries?"

"Right. If you hadn't met her recently, then at least you did have a phone call with her, didn't you?"

"What makes you say that?"

"I saw her phone lit up, with a phone call coming through from you."

Chaewon leaned in closer, her playful demeanor fading. "Oh, what were you doing with her last night?"

"Chaewon-ah. Please."

"Look. I wish I could tell you, but I couldn't. She told me to never tell you about it, and that she'd be the one to say it when the time comes."

"No hints..? Like, none?"

"Well," Chaewon hesitated, her expression growing serious. "I can tell you one thing. I don't know how you'll take the news she'd break to you. Because if you hadn't moved on from her then... I don't know."

His face fell, the weight of Chaewon's words sinking in. He contemplated the worst possible scenarios.

"Don't feel sad. I'm sure you can take it."

"I'll try. Anyways, what do you mean by 'moved on'?"

"Isn't it obvious that you hadn't moved on from her? 'Cause if you have, we wouldn't be having this conversation."

He sighed. "Bruh. You're making it as if I'm a psychopath for being attached to her for so long."

"But isn't that the case?"

"Who knows? Maybe I just used her as a reason to meet up with you."

Chaewon blinked in surprise. "...what?"

"Maybe I asked you about her a lot because I wanted you to feel jealous? Because, you're one of the most beautiful people I've ever met."

A grin crept onto Chaewon's face. "Just stop before I pour this tea up on your head."

He chuckled, taking a sip of his drink. However, his expression soon turned somber again as he continued to process his feelings. Chaewon, feeling a pang of sympathy, reached over and gently patted his head.

"It's going to be okay, Y/N," she reassured him. "At least she talked about how you were still the same person you were in high school, if it makes you feel any better."

"I see. Thanks, Chaewon-ah. It's just that, it really has been quite a while since I last saw her, I don't know how to feel."

"Well, you like her, don't you?" Chaewon asked softly. "Just say it later when you part ways so that you don't regret it."

Y/N considered her words. "...I'll think about it. Thanks, pupu."

"Can't believe you're using the same nickname as Kazuha used to call me by," Chaewon mused with a bittersweet smile, concealing the ache in her heart.

After her meetup with Y/N, Chaewon stood in front of a station to meet with Kazuha that evening. She knew that Kazuha was aware of her earlier rendezvous with him, and she could sense that her friend had questions.

Kazuha then showed up not long after and asked, "So, did you tell him the reason I'm here?"

Chaewon shook her head. "No, not yet. He was asking about you, though."

Kazuha's curiosity piqued. "About me? What did he say?"

"He was concerned, you know," Chaewon replied, her gaze turning thoughtful. "He wanted to know what you've been up to and why you're here. But I didn't say much. I stuck to the story you told him."

Kazuha nodded in understanding. "Thanks. Then, shall we get going?"

She nodded, as they went on with their plan.
