You were wandering aimlessly around the city, as it was your first time being in such a big place. Living almost your whole life being in the village you grew up in, it felt easy finding your way back home not having to be afraid of getting lost.
Not to mention that you're also a foreigner that hasn't gotten a full grasp of the language, meaning that you'd have a hard time finding your way to get around. One misstep and you'll end up at the other end of the city.
Where should I even head to…?
You looked around at people walking at a fast pace, wearing earphones for themselves making it even harder to get their attention. It seemed as if their age wasn't as far as you thought it'd be, yet the culture shock has gotten you mentally.
Just as you felt like giving up, you felt a pat on your back to see a woman giving you a wave.
"You seem lost. Perhaps I can help you with something?" She asked with an accent that seemed familiar, but you brushed it off and was glad that someone came up to you.
"Oh, yeah. I was actually looking for S University. Do you know where it is?" You gave her a look of the map as her eyes lit up.
"I'm actually heading there too! I know the way, it's pretty far though. I hope you don't mind doing a 20-minute walk because I don't know how to use public transportation yet. I was supposed to go there with my friend but she had something urgent to do. Hence I'm walking. Sorry for ranting."
She immediately apologized, making you chuckle. You told her that it was okay since you're used to it, and there you went. You asked about her year and major, as it turns out that the two of you are in the same year. You asked for her contact in hopes of getting a friend since you're all alone, whereas she agreed and gave you her ID.
"Song Yuqi… are you Chinese?" You asked in your native language as she got even more excited and started talking in hers as well.
"Ya… what kind of coincidence is this." She spouted as she walked ahead of you.
"I can't believe it either. I guess it's fate, huh?" You flirted resulting in a laugh out of her.
"I guess you're right." You were taken aback due to her answer being not what you expected it was. After talking for some more, you finally reached the place you have been looking for all morning. Feeling grateful, you gave her a bow.
"It's fine! We're heading the same way anyway, so it's cool." She then looked around before pointing towards a certain direction.
"Your department is over there! Just walk inside and search for your class." She pointed towards what looks like a newly-built building as excitement starts to fill up within you.
"Thanks! See you around, I guess." Right as you were about to leave, you heard her call your name as you turned around to see her swinging her feet around, seemingly nervous unlike how she was earlier.
"If you don't… should we go somewhere later? Since you're new here, i can show you around." She said with an awkward smile as you smiled at her offer.
"Sure."
