At 2 A.M., an hour when most people are immersed in dreams. But of course, there would also be those who stayed up late. Whether they're studying for their tests, playing video games to get to a high rank, or working overtime in order to not get their faces screamed at by their managers for not meeting the deadline.

Those are only a few examples of the many reasons to stay awake, but none of them apply to Han Y/N, who has already fallen asleep. Sleeping on his side, facing towards the window. Unfortunately his peaceful sleep had to come to an end as his phone started ringing.

He was then greeted by a soft voice.

You're still awake, right Y/N?

A smile curled on his lips. "Of course. What do you need?"

Come over to the park, please.

"Sure. See you."

With that, he hung up, rubbed his eyes, and, clad in a hoodie and shorts, ventured towards the park mentioned by his friend, Naoi Rei. There, in the middle of a bench, she sat alone, engrossed in her phone.

"Didn't expect you to arrive this early. Were you already here when you made that phone call earlier?"

"I was. Now that you're here, let me get started."

They were high school acquaintances who coincidentally ended up in the same university. They recognized each other, and after confirming that they were indeed from the same school, they exchanged their contacts.

Y/N and Rei had chosen to keep their acquaintance a secret. They often exchanged messages late at night, particularly when Rei wanted to share the amusing and peculiar pick-up lines she encountered.

Slowly over time she had gotten fond of him over text, and would occasionally ask him late at night to meet up, such as tonight. He would often chuckle, and sometimes get concerned over her well-being due to some of the people she had told him being aggressive.

During their conversation, Rei paused, her gaze filled with guilt.

"Why did you stop?" Y/N inquired.

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry? For what?"

"You must find me annoying because I only talk to you late at night. You must've already fallen asleep when I called you earlier, right? And don't lie, because you sounded like it."

He chuckled. "You found out, huh? But I don't find it annoying, honestly. I don't hate it at all."

"Really?"

"Yeah. This late-night conversation. It's actually something that I look forward to, especially because it's you. Think of it as an off-the-record night."

Blushing, Rei looked away, met with Y/N's smirk.

"What's with you... Anyway, let me continue. So after I managed to get him off of my back..."

Their conversation continued for another hour as he silently listened and nodded to the story she had to tell.

The morning after, Y/N sported visible eye bags, evidence of a night well spent. As he walked down the hall, he noticed Rei walking with her friends. In an unexpected turn of events, she broke their usual pattern.

"See you later, Y/N," she greeted, catching him off guard. Her friends bombarded her with questions, and Y/N, still processing the change, simply replied, "Sure."
