Mai walked along the sidewalk beside her mother. The sun brightly shined on both of their skin allowing for them to feel warm. Mai's mother looked down at her daughter. "It's your birthday, what kind of cake do you want?" She asked with a genuine smile. Mai's eyes brightly shined as the question reached her ears. Letting go of her mother's hand she stepped back a bit. "I want a vanilla one with chocolate frosting that's this big!" She shouted stretching her arms out. Her mother smiled. "If we get one that big we'll never make it out of the store." She replied taking Mai's hand again.

"Mai you need to get out." Mei said in a quiet voice. She was obviously in a hurry. "What?" The girl questioned. Mei looked at her and grabbed her by the shoulders. "You need to get out of here now!" Mei yelled hearing as the door flew open. "You won't take her." Mei stated looking up at Golzine. Looking at the bodyguards next to him he sighed and slightly nodded. Mei knew what that meant. "Mai run." She said under her breath. Mai sprinted towards the door as Golzine's bodyguards went after Mei. Except Golzine had grabbed her from the collar of her shirt almost choking her. Golzine grabbed Mai from the arm and looked at her. "Ah what a bad girl. I'll have one of my men punish you real nice."

"Mei..." Mai whispered as her voice started to tremble. "My memories are back." She mumbled as she sat on her knees staring down at the name engraved into stone. S/n looked down at her sadly. "Mai." S/n started. As soon as Mai felt her hand touch her shoulder she felt anger strike through her body. "Don't touch me!" She shouted, making S/n pull her hand away quickly. "It's your fault. Yours and Seven's! It's your fault all your fault!" Mai's eyes filled with tears which were now staining the stone on the ground.

"The world be so much better if neither of you were born.." Mai spoke in a much quieter voice as she stood up off the ground. S/n's expression changed into an angry one. "You're not the only one suffering I also lost my husband!" She yelled. "I don't care! I don't give a flying shit! You could have easily prevented this if you weren't such a whore and a horrible mother!" Mai yelled receiving a slap from S/n. "You fucking witch!" Mai shouted punching her in the face. S/n fell to the ground making Mai look down at her.

"Seven deserved to die, and so do you." Mai's eyes became cold. "But I won't kill you. I don't have the guts to. I'll leave it to someone who is truly evil." Mai crouched down next to her. "Hey, since you're so evil why don't you kill yourself?" S/n looked up at Mai holding her bleeding nose. "Only a coward would resort to those methods." She replied. Mai slightly laughed. "Says the one who spent more of her life sleeping with rich guys instead of being a good mother." Mai stopped talking for a moment. "I really was an idiot for idolizing you and that fucker." Mai stood back up and look at S/n one last time.

Turning around without another word Mai walked off to the hospital. It had been two weeks after the incident at the underground hospital had happened. Mai walked into the hospital asking for a room number. Once it was given she walked into an elevator and waited impatiently as it went up.

Why did my memory return now? At a time like this, where everyone I love might die.

Mai held her breath, resisting the urge to let her tears fall out again. The elevator stopped. Mai quickly took off towards the room number and knocked on the door. It took a while, but Sing peeked out and looked at Mai. With guilty eyes he looked back down and simply opened the door. Mai entered the room seeing as Yut Lung was asleep and Y/n was still in a coma. "What did the doctor say?" Mai asked sitting next to Y/n's bed. Sing stood off to the side leaning against the wall next to an open window. He crossed his arms. "They said that Y/n has a very low chance of survival. As for Yut Lung they think he won't be able to walk again." He explained.

Mai looked down at Y/n sadly, and began stroking her hair. Sing watched and suddenly cleared his throat as he realized a knot began to form. "Aren't you sad?" Mai asked turning her attention to Sing while keeping her hand on Y/n's head. "That's none of your business." Sing replied averting his eyes. Mai turned around to Yut Lung. "He's the one who saved me." Mai suddenly spoke. Sing looked at the back of her head.

I know Yut Lung will make it. But, Y/n.

Sing walked up to Y/n on the opposite side of Mai. Her face was full of bruises and stitches. Both of her arms were covered with casts. Her hair was messy. "I shouldn't have brought these two on that mission." Sing replied dwelling on his decisions. Mai turned to him. "Even if you hadn't wanted them to be involved they would have insisted on going, there's no way around it." Mai spoke with a sigh. Sing watched as she stood back up. "Don't you want to go back to your parents?" Sing questioned. Mai didn't have anyone else to turn to besides the two who were in the hospital and S/n who she obviously didn't want to be with.

Mai turned around to walk out of the hospital door. She paused as she shoved her hands in her coat pockets. "My memories came back." Sing waited for her to continue. "I now remember that back when I was in Golzine's 'care' one of their torture methods for me was to show me a tape of how my parents were tortured and brutally killed. The whole tape lasted about five hours, fifty minutes and thirty three seconds." Sing felt bad for having asked. "That's an oddly specific time stamp." He muttered. "They showed it to me often. I remember every minute of it. They had it on full blast, I remember the screams from the exact time on the tape." Mai sighed beginning to get teary eyed.

"Why were you parents killed? Didn't Golzine only want you?" Sing wondered out loud as the nurse entered the room. Mai looked up and turned around to Sing. "After my kidnapping they went after Golzine's mafia. Hoping to get me back. They found his mansion but couldn't make it past his bodyguards and ruthless set of gang members." Mai explained. The nurse eyed them wondering what they were talking about. Sing side eyed the nurse which made her go back to putting medicine through Yut Lung's tube.

Mai sent Sing a fake smile. "We should get going." She suggested as Sing followed her out the door.
