"I AM REALLY SORRY that I thought it was Bryce." Ani says to Maddie as they sit in her room. After the motel fiasco, the four teens returned back to the Jensen household. Maddie and Ani were in her room and the boys were out in the out-house.

Maddie runs her hands over her face. "I get it. I mean, Justin's bad enough, right?"

"No, it's your body, you can do what you want with it."

It didn't feel that way. At least not anymore.

"I thought that was why you bailed on me at Homecoming. Because you thought I was a hypocrite."

"No! No, that was just—" Ani moves to sit next to Maddie on the floor. "I chickened out. I'm not as brave as you are."

Maddie chuckles. "I don't think that's the word I would use to describe myself."

Madelyn Jensen was a lot of things, but brave didn't really seem like one of them.

"I'm, like, the girl who's all about taking down the bad guys. So, what's everyone gonna think when they found out I've been hooking up with the guy who let me get raped? I'm literally sleeping with the enemy, right now."

"That's your business... and yours alone. No one else has to know."

Maddie smiles hopefully. She was grateful for Ani. Grateful to have another friend. It was killing her to not be able to talk about her rendezvous with Justin to her or Jessica.

"It's actually been... really hard not to be able to talk about any of this stuff with you or Jess."

Ani smiles and pulls Maddie's blanket over her body too. "Well, the good news is now you can."

"I don't even know how to explain it. I mean... once I started thinking about Justin, I just... couldn't stop."

Maddie walks through the doors of Monet's and immediately high-tails it for the counter. It had been exactly three days since Justin and Maddie's hook-up and she couldn't get him out of her mind. She needed more.

"Hello and welcome to Monet's. How can I help you today?"

"No one says that here." Maddie tells Justin as he leans on the counter in front of her. He nods his head. "Hey, uh... I need to talk to you. Now."

"Okay. I have a break in, like, ten minutes, so—"

Maddie grabs his arm, forcing him to face her. "Justin, I need to talk to you now."
