After leaving the bathroom Lilli walks down the steps running into the blonde girl Enola had been talking to earlier. As the girl walks away Lilli sees William in the room the blonde had just exited.
"Mr Lyon." Lilli says, walking into the room.
"Yes?" William asks.
"I was wondering if we might have a dance this evening." Lilli tells him.
"My dance card is full." William says.
"May I see it?" Lilli asks. William take shis dance card out of his pocket and Lilli takes it. "Ah. You last Waltz is still free. How fitting. Would you mind?" William takes her card and writes his name on the spot. "Until then."
Lilli takes the card back and leaves the room.Lilli and Enola were stood off to the side watching the crowd. Lilli had just told Enola about how she got a dance with William. The two looked at the letter Sarah got and the dance card, noticing the 'W' were writting the same way.
While Enola went to get a drink, Lilli spotted Tewkesbury talking to a group of girls.
"You admire Lord Tewkesbury?" She looks behind her to see the blonde girl from earlier.
"No! No." Lilli says. "We are old friends."
"I hear he's a good man, and a great reformer." The girl says.
"Well, if you wish to dance with him, you may have to wait." Lilli says, slightly bitterly. "There's quite a que."
"Yes, I mustn't lose my chance." The girl says. "Good evening, Miss..."
"Daisy." Lilli says.
"Cicely." The girl says, before walking over to Tewkesbury.
Lilli watches the pair until Cicely points at her. Tewkesbury looks over at her and the brunette quickly turns away and walks off. Little did she knew Tewkesbury had watched the whole action, hurt and sadness evident in his eyes when he turned back to Cicely. Before long it was time for the last waltz. Lilli and Willam walk towards each other. Lilli looks over William's shoulder to see Cicley and Tewkesbuyr getting ready to dance. Tewkesbury looks over at her causing her to look away again.
"You know, I swear I know your face." Lilli says, once they had started dancing. "Wat must it be?"
"We've never met before." William says, as they past Tewkesbury and Cicely. "I've seen you looking. Why?"
"Of course. The Paragon Music Hall. I saw you talking with a young women there. Sarah Chapman." Lilli says, causing Willam's eyes widen as he goes to walk away, but Lilli grabs his hand pulling him back in. "Dislocate from me and I will scream. The police are onto you, Mr Lyon. As it appears, they are onto us both."
"You were not invited here, what do you want?" William says.
"I'm a private detective, hired by Sarah's sister to find her." Lilli says.
"Bessie hired you?" William asks.
"You know Bessie?" Lilli asks back.
"Leave me be, please, or you will ruin everything." William says.
"How? What will I ruin?" Lilli questions.
"They are watching." William warns. "If you must persist with this, meet me in the library at midnight. Alone. Say nothing more now."
"Midnight it is." Lilli says.
The pair continue to dance until the song comes to an end.Lilli was waiting in the library when the door opens. She grabs a fire poker pointing it towards the door. She let's out a sigh of relief when she see it was Tewkesbury.
"My word, you do get in awkward places." Lilli says.
"Why are you holding a poker?" Tewkesbury asks.
"You must leave. I'm waiting for another." Lilli tells him.
"Another you're scared of such that you need a weapon?" Tewkesbury asks, grabbing the fire poker.
"You are always here when I don't want you to be." Lilli says.
"And sometimes here when you do." Tewkesbury asks.
"Tewkes..." Lilli sighs, hearing the hurt in his voice.
"Please just telling me whats going on, Lil. I want to help." Tewkesbury tells her.
"I cannot." Lilli replies.
"Yes you can." Tewkesbury says.
"I cannot, Lord Tewkesbury. This is a matter you must stay out of." Lilli says.
"Lil-" Tewkesbury starts.
"I know what you message with the fan meant." Lilli says, causing Tewkesbury's eyes to widen. "It's one of the only things my mother taught me. And-"
"And, what?" Tewkesbury asks.
"I love you to." Lilli admits.
"Which is why you must tell me what's going on, so I can help you." Tewkesbury says.
"This is all I want. I want us." Lilli says.
"But?" Tewkesbury asks, knowing there was one.
"I must do this alone." Lilli tells him.
"What's the matter with you?" Tewkesbury asks. "You've been acting weird ever since our encounter at the park. Everytime I look at you you look away."
"We've already established that's because I love you and cannot stand to see you with another women." Lilli says.
"You think it was easy for me to see you dancing with William Lyon, when I love you as well?" Tewkesbury questions.
"I like the women you were dancing with, Cicely? She would make you an excellent wife." Lilli says.
Even though she hated it, she felt it was true. Cicely would make a better wife then she ever would. And all she wanted for Tewkesbury was the best.
"Lilli, I'm concerned only for you." Tewkesbury tells her, grabbing her hand as he takes a step closer.
"Tewkesbury, if you're still here you may scare him away." Lilli says, pulling her hand out of his and taking a step back.
"'Scare him'? All of this is over a man?" Tewkesbury asks.
"Just leave." Lilli tells him.
"No. Not until you tell me what is going on here." Tewkesbury says.
Before Lilli could respond the clock chimes and William walks in, causing the pair to look at him.
"Lord Tewkesbury." William says, as Tewkesbury gives Lilli a look of disbelief.
Another door then opens and Lestrade was stood there with a couple officers.
"Lilli Wilson, you're under arrest." Lestrade tells her. "Try to escape and will make this ever more difficult. Let's make it quiet and spare the fine people embarrassment."
Sir, whatever this is about, I'm sure-" Tewkesbury starts.
"Murder, sir. It's about murder." Lestrade says.
Teweksbury turns to Lilli with a worried look on his face.
"Tewkesbury, it's all right." Lilli whispers walking towards him so they were close, and only he could hear her.
"Constable, go on." Lestrade says, as Lilli slides the letter and music sheet into Tewkesbury's shirt.
"Keep them safe." Lilli whispers. "Find Enola. She'll explain everything."
