On Saturday night, Rory and Logan found themselves walking through Central Park. The date had been awkward at first, but that faded quickly. They went to a restaurant that Logan had brought Rory to a few times when they were in college so he knew she liked it, and after they decided to walk around Central Park. It was really nice except for the fact that Rory's phone kept chirping.
"You can check it if you want" Logan said when Rory's phone chirped for the third time.
"Only because it might be about my kids" Rory said. She felt bad pulling her phone out on a date, but she needed to make sure that it wasn't about the kids.
"I get it" Logan said
Rory quickly checked her phone and she was glad she did, because it was Lorelai. Rory quickly texted her back and then put her phone away.
"Everything ok?" Logan asked
"Yeah" Rory nodded
"Good"
The next morning Logan woke up with Rory asleep next to him. He gently kissed her cheek before leaving the room to make coffee. At some point Rory walked into the kitchen. She was a little nervous about actually spending the night at Logan's apartment since Oliver was there, but Logan assured her that it wasn't a big deal.
"Does your kid just not wake you up at the ass crack of dawn every morning?" Rory asked
Logan chuckled. "No. Do yours?"
"Every single day, without fail, I get woken up before 7"
"See, I have the opposite problem. Usually it's impossible to get mine up" Logan said. "He'll probably sleep until I wake him"
"Weird"
After they finished their coffee, Rory went home to shower and change before going to pick up Ollie and Amelia from Stars Hollow.
"Hey" Rory said when Luke opened the door
"Hi Rory" Luke said
"Mama!" Amelia came running to the entryway.
"Hi Mel belle" Rory said and picked Amelia up to hug her tight. "I missed you" she kissed Amelia's cheek before putting her down. "Where's your brother?"
"Upstairs" Amelia said
"Why don't we go get him?" Luke said. He took Amelia's hand and they went upstairs.
"What's different about you?" Lorelai asked. Something was different about Rory. She was pretty sure she knew what, but she couldn't just come out and say it.
"Um...nothing?" Rory said
"No, something's weird. You have a weird energy"
"I don't even know what that means"
"What'd you do last night?" Lorelai asked
"Nothing" Rory said. She was a terrible liar and Lorelai could see right through it.
Lorelai chuckled. "I'd like to rephrase my question. Who'd you do last night?"
"Mom!"
"I've been your mother for 34 years, you don't think I can tell when you're acting different. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what's different when you just had a night with no kids in your apartment. So who's the guy?" Lorelai asked. One thing Lorelai know about her daughter was that she wasn't the type of person to sleep with people she didn't know. So she figured that Rory had been seeing someone and just didn't tell her.
"You're not allowed to react the way I think you're gonna want to" Rory said.
"Spill?"
"I might be seeing someone, and the kids don't know"
