“Hi! For I’m here!” All Might said standing in front of them. They were all in their hero outfits and in front of one of the training grounds. They were in heroics class. “It’s been a while, boys and girls! In good spirits I hope. But right onto Foundational Hero Study Time!” He poses in front of them with a big smile. Karian rolled his eyes a bit but with a smirk. “It is a rescue-training race! Right on the heels of all your workplace experience, this time we’ll mix in an element of play.” All Might continued to explain that they would all be put in groups and race to the center where All Might would be waiting.
First up was Sero, Ashido, Iida, Ojiro, and Midoirya. Most were putting bets on Iida or Sero. Karian thought Midoirya might give them a run for their money after seeing what some of his training paid off. Soon Midoirya was flying through the training field over the buildings and pipes but something was familiar. Karian tilted his head to the side as he watched Midoirya move. Then it clicked. Midoirya was moving like Bakugou. Karian nodded now as he figured it.
“Midoirya still hasn't found his own style,” Karian mumbled. “He just copies what he knows.”
“So you noticed too?” Todoroki asked from standing next to him. Karian had slowly come to realize that they both had their realities shifted by someone else. Todoroki was less self hating now and more open with others. Karian wasn’t so closed off himself, though he hadn't completely opened up to everyone. It was only Bakugou, Kirishima, Todoroki, and Midoirya a bit.
“Yea,” Karian answered. “I mean its kind of obvious.” And then Midoriya fell. “He’s never going to succeed until he finds his own way of doing things.”
“What about you Karian?” Todoroki asked.
“What do you mean?” Karian asked, looking at him.
“Are you ever going to find your own way with your second quirk?” Todoroki asked. Karian let out a low growl, which made a couple students step away from him.
“Shut up about it, Shoto,” Karian said in a low tone. “As far as I'm concerned I only have one quirk.” Karian was glad that Bakugou was to distracted by his own thoughts to overhear.
“You know it wasn’t your fault,” Todoroki said.
“Why are you even bringing this up?” Karian asked.
“My mom asked me about you and brought it up,” Todoroki said.
“Well tell your mom Im fine,” Karian said. “And don’t bring it up again.” Karian moved away from Todoroki as they were called for the next race. Sero had won the first one after Midoriya fell. Shoto wasn’t the only one born of an arranged quirk marriage. The only difference is his parents fell in love pretty early on. His mother had a powerful quirk too. Karian had inherited both powers and they were strong. The first time his second quirk manifested was a surprise and it overwhelmed him. That time his mother was able to help him. It wasn’t until the twins were about a year old when he lost control. And it had killed his mother because she tried to protect him.
Karian had to shake his head as the air horn went off to let them know to go. Karian was up against Todoroki, Bakugou, Mineta, and Aoyoma. Karian quickly made what looked like the board of a skateboard and begins to fly towards where All Might is. As he gets close from the other side, Karian can see both Bakugou and Todoroki coming up quickly. Karian quickens his pace and dives down towards All Might. he flips and lands in a crouched pose all of 30 seconds before Bakugou lands next to him.
“Well done all three of you,” All Might says as Todoroki lands there. “Young Kimura, congratulations on getting here the quickest. Your time was impressive.” Karian just kind of shrugged a bit. He was still lost in his own thoughts. Karian probably wouldn't have won or even tried if Bakugou wasn’t one of his opponents. Karian liked denying Bakugou the win.
Karian began to walk back towards the front.
“Karian,” Bakugou called out as he walked up next to him. Karian looked down at him as they kept walking.
“Whats up Bakugou?” Karian asked curiously. Todoroki wasn't too far behind him.
“We will talk later about your second quirk,” Bakugou said.
“No we won't,” Karian said. “Because I dont fucking have one.” Karian stopped ahead not wanting to have this conversation. Karian brushed past classmates who were trying to congratulate him. Kirishima looking at the boy worried as he walked away from everyone.
Bakugou looked at Todoroki. “What the fuck?”
“Not my story to tell,” was all Todoroki said as he walked away.
Karian walked away from the class and around the corner. He punched the wall and sat down. “Why the fuck did he need to bring that up? So close to the anniversary too.” He hit his head back against the wall. “Im sorry mom.” He said softly.
