❝𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 ~ 𝐃𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐢 𝐱 𝐟𝐞𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐬❞

❝𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞❞

After a long and tiring day at work, Dazai went to a restaurant he regularly visited. He enjoyed their authentic ramen and Japanese dishes and some sake which washed all his worries away. Today his mood wasn't at his best, he felt down and tired as if nothing could satisfy him. Once his food arrived his mood lifted a bit bringing a gentle smile to his face. He ate and drank away loosing all track of time enjoying every bit of his meal. Not many things brought his mood up when he was not feeling his best but a good meal always helped a little.

After he finished and was ready to leave, he opened his fortune cookie just to see what insignificant sentence would be written inside. He pulled out the slip of white paper and ate the cookie. It said...
"the best thing for you now is right in front of you"

"Huh?..." he mumbles and then scoffs tossing the slip into his pocket.

After he does so, he looks up and sees you, his coworker, being escorted to a table close by. He watched you take a seat and thank the waiter for seating you. He decided to go say hello it was the least he could do before he walked home to wallow in his sorrows. As he stepped closer he put on his usual facade as you noticed him and said hello.

"Oh hello Dazai kun what a coincidence seeing you here!" You say with a closed eye smile.

He chuckles "Yea hey... do you mind if I sit with you for a minute before I go?"

"Of course shall I order you another glass of sake as well?" You say with a gentle smile.

He almost missed what you were saying due to his gaze taking in your beauty in the light from a simple candle on the table.

"Oh I- no it's fine I really don't need another."

"Oh come on are you sure~" you tease.

He sighs with a small smirk on his face "fine..."

He just watched you while thinking about what his fortune said. Such a simple piece of paper had such an impact on his thoughts. You are his type and very attractive to him but he doesn't want to hurt you in any way. He believes he is to imperfect and inhuman to love someone so perfect and well... human.

"Is something on my face Dazai kun you've been staring at me for quite some time." You say worriedly.

"Oh no sorry... how about I walk you home it's getting late and I can't let you walk home alone at this hour!" He says as his expression visibly changed from a softer expression to a cheery one.

"Alright I'll take you up on that offer Dazai kun!" You say with a gentle nod. After paying you open your fortune cookie with joy and read it. Yours said...

"An admirer is concealing feelings from you."

"Oh how silly!" You say with a giggle. Deep down you wanted this to be true but you felt as if no one could ever love you. What was so special that anyone would choose you over any other girl? You didn't know.

"Hm what does it say (y/n) chan?" Dazai says while peeking over your shoulder.

"Oh just this isn't it something~" you say with your signature closed eye smile.

He looks at you and notices a hint of sadness in your expression.

"What did yours say?" You say to change the topic.

"Oh you know just something random of no importance." He says as if he was hiding it from you.

"Oh I see."

You walk in silence for some time as you make your way home with the brunette walking close beside you. It was quite chilly as the autumn air began to settle in the city of Yokohama. A chill flowed through your body from the cool air but you were soon greeted with warmth as a certain someone had placed their coat on your shoulders.

"Dazai kun... won't you be cold?"

"I'd rather be cold than let a beautiful woman such as yourself get sick." He says with a wink.

"Oh... thank you." You say as you snuggle into his coat. It smelled just like him. A scent of cologne and a side of sake, a bittersweet smell which resembled him perfectly. He noticed as you smiled into his coat and smiled back at you.

Once you both reached your apartment you unlocked the door and turned to face him and thank him for escorting you home.

"Thank you for walking me home Dazai kun." You say as you hand his coat back to him.

"No problem darling~ thanks for the drink." He says while putting his coat on.

You both don't budge and continue to look at each other hoping that this moment could last a while.

"Back to the drink... I'm feeling risky... would it be too much to ask for a kiss?" He says while looking at you with a soft expression.

Your expression reflected his and your heart began to beat faster "not at all..."

His hands made their way to your hips drawing you closer for a sweet and gentle kiss. Your lips molded together perfectly and it never grew passionate. It had felt as if time had stopped and the only souls existing were the two of you. You were both intoxicated with your feelings for each other growing now from your current activity. As your lips parted you looked at each other with half lidded eyes and arms still wrapped around the other. You were caught in a trance with just how majestic his presence was. His dark past and cheery personality was a mystery to you, you never truly understood how or what he felt on a daily basis and want to know more. Maybe just maybe you could help him and understand what he went through and how it effected him so you could be that light that brought him from his darkness.

years later

"Osamu!"

"Yes love?"

"I need help getting (sons name) ready for school!"

"Alright I'm coming!"

Before leaving for work and dropping your son off at school he always made sure to kiss you and say goodbye. You were currently staying at home from work due to your second pregnancy. Dazai was protective over you and made sure that you and your family were safe so you did as much work as possible at home and occasionally made visits to the office to see everyone.

"Goodbye my angel if you need anything call me okay?"

"I'll be fine Osamu~" you say while kissing him on the cheek.

"I know I just can't help but worry."

You smile and kiss him on the lips and send the two boys on their way.

His fortune was right the best thing in his life was right in front of him.
