Your phone buzzed uncontrollably from your nightstand. Presuming it was work you didn't want to answer, knowing that as soon as you woke up you wouldn't be able to fall back asleep. The moment your phone stopped you let a sigh of relief, but before you could drift off your phone went off again.
Determining if to be urgent you answered unwillingly."Hello?"
"Y/N. Y/N has the office called yet?", Janice spoke ecstatically
Checking your missed calls you did see one from work.
"Yeah why?"
"They haven't told you yet? The article was a hit. They want another as soon as you can",
Their statement fully woke you up.
"Wait are you being serious right now?", you questioned feeling excitement rise in your chest."Yes. I'm getting a scanner today. Let's go find your next story" and with that Janice hung up with no information for when she was going to turn up. Leaping out of bed you raced to get ready. Your article had been a success and not only that but this could get you a permanent spot in the paper. Potentially could open a pathway for you to start an online blog. The possibilities brought a sense of excitement, things were looking good.
Once you were ready to go you quickly flicked through news channels to find any information on his whereabouts.
Active robbery
Hostages
No current police action
This seems to be the most promising. Were you really doing this. Stalking news channels and Police to get information on some random hero? You thought for a moment. That's exactly what you were doing. Of course it'd be a lie to say you were doing it purely for work purposes, but you'd never tell Janice about that.
The sudden sound of a car horn interrupted your train of thought, rushing outside you hopped in Janice's car clicking on your seatbelt.
"Ok we've got an active bank ro-"
"Yeah I know that's where we're going", Janice cut you off beginning the drive to the bank.
"I've got my camera equipment in the back", she added
"Just make sure you credit my photos", she continued keeping her eyes glued to road."Of course but you don't hav-"
"Shhhh. I am choosing to", she cut you off again.
You arrived at the bank sooner than you had thought. Now that you were on the scene you weren't too sure what do from there. Janice set up her camera while you waited patiently listening to the words of the police and the conversations of nearby civilians and the news reporter.
It wasn't long before gunshots and screams were heard from inside the building, causing a sickening feeling. A group of officers were sent into the building and a silence followed.
Everyone was on edge watching the scene unfold horrified for what could come next.
A wave of relief was felt amongst the crowd as the hostages left the building each appearing unharmed another short moment passed before police emerged with who you presumed to be the gunmen wrapped firmly in a web like material. He was here. That was your proof. Sneaking around the swarms of people you found your way to the emergency exit at the back of the bank. A few police officers stood guard, but as soon as they heard that the situation was handled they left the post leaving the door.
You lingered in your hiding spot for a moment before the door was flung open and the Spiderman left the building. He seemed pretty unphased but before leaving he shot a look in you direction causing you to duck behind the nearby building hoping you hadn't been spotted you held your breath feeling your heart pund violently.
Glancing round the corner once more you noticed that he had gone finally allowing you to breathe again. Turning to go back to Janice you nearly walked directly into the masked man. Causing a brief heart attack."So you're the rat", he stated
"I'm sorry?"
"Y/N, L/N. You wrote this article", he continued bringing out a folded piece of newspaper, which sure enough had your article.
"So you're a fan", you replied trying to brush off the slight hostility.
"Something you'll learn about me Y/N is I don't like labels. In the first sentence of your article I'm listed as friendly and a hero",
"Well that is kind of what you are. Even though you're kind of a dick", you added your voice practically dripping with sarcasm, paired with a very fake smile.
Unable to tell anything from his masked face you didn't know how he responded to that. The police sirens and chatting groups of people seemed to go quiet for a moment as your heart raced you did your best to keep your breathing even to not show any signs of how nervous you were in this moment.
Finally he let out a slight sigh of irritation.
"Just don't go throwing yourself in danger for this", he added. As if you would, you're keeping a safe distance from everything and watching from afar.
He looked as if he was about to add something before visibly flinching and turning away.
"What's going on?", you couldn't help but feel increasing curious he had remained so stoic until now."Nothing. You stay here", he replied in a stern voice before leaving again just as quickly as he had appeared.
Checking your phone you noticed a missed call from Janice wasting no time you called them back.
"Hey wh-"
"Y/N we got something! You're gonna want to see this one", Janice explained so quickly her words seemed to blend into each other.
"Get back here quickly", she added before hanging up on you. Again.
Making you way back to the car you saw Janice waving to you ecstatically."What is it?", you questioned before Janice leaned in and whispered
"Supervillain attack" her eyes were practically glowing with excitement."How do you know he'll be there?"
"Trust me Y/N. I know"
