'Welcome ladies and gentlemen at the first championship Miami Grand Prix. It's the fifth round of the 2022 season. We are here in South Florida for 57 laps of racing with 19 corners and 3 DRS zones. The celebs are here to celebrate this event this weekend. We had a little bit of rain this afternoon, but that won't keep it cooler for much longer i'm afraid.' Nisha could hear the commentator say through her headsets.
She was in the McLaren garage right now, to support her friends, but from McLaren's perspective this weekend.
She read trough the starting grid as the commentator went through it: P1: Leclerc P2: Verstappen P3: Norris P4: Sainz P5: Perez P6: Bottas P7: Schumacher P8: Vettel P9: Gasly P10: Tsunoda P11: Ricciardo P12: Alonso P13: Russel P14: Hamilton P15: Stroll P16: Magnussen P17: Zhou P18: Albon P19: Latifi P20: Ocon
Nisha was nervous for her friends, but especially for Lando and Mick.
Lando was doing great so far this season, so if he could keep up with the good work he could actually participate for the world championship this year.
Mick finally showed what he was capable of with qualifying. If he could keep his place he was going for the points, but they both hope Mick can push hard enough to maybe go higher.
They just finished the formation lap. Nisha started to bite her nails until Sam told her not to.
Yes, she was allowed to bring Sam and Miles with her. She was really excited to see both of her cousins again after a really long time.
Maybe it's not a long time, but it was for them. They used to see each other at least twice every single week, now not anymore sadly.
This weekend Sam and Miles got along really well with the rest of the drivers. Last time they joined Nisha, she wasn't familiar with the drivers either. Now she introduced all of her new friends to her cousins and she is really glad they're getting along great.
'It's lights out and away we go!! Verstappen got away great and takes over Leclerc in turn one. Norris stays behind Leclerc with Sainz really close behind him. Vettel takes over Schumacher, so he is now in P7. Ricciardo made a bold move, but it turned out great for him because he moved up two places to P9.' Nisha hears the commentator say.
The three cousins were watching the next few laps with a lot of anxiety. They really hope that their best friends on the grid will actually prove what they are capable of.
The race was a bit boring now, not many overtakes and just a regular race, until...
'Oh no!! Latifi crashed!!' The commentator yelled, while the drivers were doing their 50th lap.
Lando took over Charles the lap before and Mick took over Vettel again. Albon was now in P13, he overtook both Zhou and Magnussen.
There was one lap with a safety car, Latifi's crash wasn't big, so he was completely okay after the medical check up.
They were now on lap 55, two laps to go.
Nisha was biting her nails again, really close with her head by the screen. She bites on her nails, but never bite them completely off, so her nails are just really thin normally. Miles and Sam already had a beer in hand, even though they weren't really allowed to, but they persuaded the team a little, so they agreed and eventually got their way. These guys would literally do anything for one bottle of beer.
Nisha looked at them and laughed, until she heard the commentator and the McLaren crew yelling, so she turned her head fast back to the screen.
'Sainz, Perez and Bottas are out of the race!!!! What is happening??' The commentator yelled.
Nisha saw in the replay and a replay of Sainz his on board radio that he had an problem with his car and it went straight into the barriers, a problem he couldn't do anything about, but because he was in the outside of the corner he also took Perez and Bottas out with him.
It didn't cause a lot of debris on the track, so they finished the 56th lap behind a safety car and raced the last lap, until everyone crossed the finish line.
'That means we have Verstappen on P1, Norris P2, Leclerc P3, Mick Schumacher P4 and Vettel P5. What a race!!' The commentator said and the whole pit box crew started jumping around from happiness.
We all joined every other team at the place where the top 3 parked their cars.
Nisha ran towards Lando and gave him a big hug, later she saw Mick coming towards them.
What they didn't notice is that Max got a polaroid camera from his team to take a picture of their team, but the girl and her two boys didn't notice, Max made sure they would always carry this memory with them in a polaroid picture.
