The sound of footsteps as mushy as damp thickened mud
A persistent younger brother Vash, the energy of youngblood
Cannot be matched by his older sister Una, tired and wary
Two siblings traversing an empty farm that was once bred for dairy
Nothing on their person, just two siblings being out in the open
Not even a hint for their parents of their whereabouts were spoken

Skies were closing in, night skies slowly cloaking in over the day
The children should go home soon, or so the adults say
Una yells in concern "Vash, we shouldn't wander off too far!
We do not want to get into anything weird and bizarre!"
"You're no fun, sis! Those adults are just scaring us!"
Vash replied with a pout, marching on with such a strut!

As they went further, the grass grows higher and thicker
Tall older sister Una was fine, but what of her younger brother?
She could still hear Vash ruffling through the grassy way
But Vash was too small, he could easily move further away
Until his older sister could no longer find him within reach
"Vash! Don't go too far and too fast!" Una lets out a screech

While Vash was busy in his own world, trying to enjoy the fun
A different sound emerges nearby, the voice of his sister gone
Ruffling sounds from the grass were crunchy yet hurried
His nose whips an unfamiliar stench that suddenly had him worried
"Sister? Where are you? You're so slow!" Vash yelled back
No response, just the continuous ruffling of long grass stacks

Sounds of growling reaches the young boy's ears
At this times, the darker cloak of the skies drew even near
Round and red glowing eyes gleam from the darkness
Vash ran for his life, screaming for his sister, unarmed and helpless
The figure rose from the grass, revealing a giant canine
Not just one or two, but four deadly pairs of eyes

Black, white, brown, spotted, they haven't been fed in a while
Oh to finally have a meal to feast on - this one careless child!
Feral mouths coated in drool, pouring out like an open shower
Bark and howl! Praise the sun for the food to be devoured!
Run, Vash, run! Retrace your steps and reunite with your older sister
Scream for help with what's left of your feeble power

The older sister hears a frantic scream along with more frantic rustling
Four glinting eyes of beasts in the distance as Una keeps struggling
To stay calm when she knows exactly what's she's dealing with
Just from the sharp eyes, Una further finds harder to breathe
Like her younger brother, with all the strength left she could muster
Una swam through the ocean of grass, limbs scratched by blisters

Eventually, the older sister crossed paths with the young Vash
As well as four different dogs running just behind the grass
Adrenaline-fueled Una scoops her younger brother up like a bride
Carried by the groom as she lets out an ear-breaking cry
Hoping that someone at the end of this grassy field would hear
And to cope that the one thing she feared the most would disappear

But just like any other hero story, the savior ends up to her demise
Tripping down on the damp soil as Una face down against the skies
Her last sight being Vash running away for his own life needs to save
Yet not of his dearest sister, the one who made an escape to pave
Who knew that Una's fear, and only fear of dogs would be the one
To end her very own life; the beasts that consumed her until she was none
