It's Halloween! A spooky season with an excuse to dress up uniquely
What should I be this year? What are people scared of lately?
Maybe I could go as commitment, people fear that a lot
"I want to be in a relationship!" yet they don't even shoot their shot
Perhaps they only idealize the concept of being in a romance
But fear the idea of crossing paths with someone given the chance
Some straight men crave the idea of a woman's tender loving care
Or maybe it's just their strong desire to look at one and stare
Eyes filled with lust and thoughts clouded by their second head
Meanwhile, some straight women fantasize someone with them in bed
Could be the same reason earlier, or just someone who assures them
Even things like getting spoiled is regarded a high standard for them
These things can also apply for men to men, or women to women
However, just the excessive idealization of concepts is like a religion
For some, they fear turning romance into reality for a valid reason
One could have felt the blues of a cold winter season
Another could be thinking to themselves that they may not be enough
Though those who loudly fear commitment for memes don't have it rough
They just want to hide their long-term loneliness behind a mask
Feelings that only they themselves could probably unpack
So yeah, I think I'll go with commitment as my Halloween costume
A spooky concept perfect for the yearly season of spook and doom
