"Bombarda!" Hermione Granger shouted while still gripping the back of Harry's robes with her left hand, and with her right hand pointing her wand at the window from Professor Flitwick's office in the West Tower which had just exploded.

"How-how-?" said Sirius Black weakly, staring at the Hippogriff.

"Get on- there's not much time", said Harry. "You've got to get out of here- the Dementors are coming. Macnair's gone to get them."

Black managed to fling one leg over Buckbeak's back, and pull himself onto the Hippogriff behind Hermione.

"OK, Buckbeak, up!" said Harry, shaking the rope.

The Hippogriff gave one sweep of its mighty wings and they were soaring downwards this time, heading towards the Courtyard. Buckbeak landed with a clatter on the ground and Harry, Hermione and Sirius slid off him at once.

"I'll be forever grateful for this... to both of you." Sirius spoke sincerely.

"I want to go with you." Harry pleaded.

"One day, perhaps. For some time, my life will be too unpredictable. And besides... you're meant to be here." Black explained while grabbing Harry by his shoulders.

"But you're innocent." Harry complained not fully understanding why he couldn't go with his godfather.

"And you know it," Harry sat on the seat behind him and Sirius kneeled trying to comfort him. "And for now, that will do." He took a small pause and cupped Harry's face in his hands. "I expect you're tired of hearing this... but you look so much like your father. Except your eyes. You have-" he was interrupted.

"My mother's eyes." Harry completed Sirius's thoughts.

"It's cruel that I spent so much time with James and Lily, and you so little. But know this: The ones that love us, never really leave us. And you can always find them..." Sirius placed his hands in Harry's heart, "In here."

Sirius stood up and walked over to Buckbeak, the Hippogriff pawed the ground, tossing his sharp head. Then Sirius Black sat on his back. Harry and Hermione got close to say their final goodbyes. Before they could do so, Sirius turned to Hermione.

"You really are the brightest witch of your age. Wish I had a daughter like you." He assured her. Harry on the other end, narrowed his eyes slightly. Why would his godfather say that if he already had a daughter? But he didn't want to think much of it, he probably didn't mean for it to sound like that anyway.

The kids backed away, Hermione's red face was nervously smiling at Sirius's compliment. Black wheeled Buckbeak around, facing the open sky.

"We'll see each other again, Harry. I just have some people to find." He squeezed Buckbeak's sides with his heels. Harry and Hermione jumped back as the enormous wings rose once more... The Hippogriff took off into the air... he and his rider became smaller and smaller as Harry gazed after them... then a cloud drifted across the moon... they were gone.
