The 46 hours between John B being taken into custody and his arraignment were some of the longest Rylee had ever experienced in her life.

All of the Pogues, including Sarah, had been loaded into vehicles separate from an unconscious John B and driven straight to the Sheriff's Department. Parents were called, words like "accessories" and "aiding and abetting" were thrown around, but ultimately they were all sent home. Whether that was because of lack of evidence, or the additional strain on the police force, Rylee didn't know. Kiara and Pope were taken home by their parents who were in various stages of anger and relief, and though Ward Cameron did come to the station to pick up his daughter, Sarah refused to go anywhere near him. In the end, he had returned home alone while Sarah returned to the Château with Rylee and JJ.

The evening and following day passed in near silence, Rylee sequestering herself in her old bedroom while Sarah did the same in John B's. She listened for every sound of movement as JJ moved around the living room and kitchen, sometimes disappearing out of the front door for a few hours before inevitably returning. Kiara and Pope didn't come by, but Rylee hadn't been surprised by that. She wondered if their parents would even let them out to go to John B's hearing.

Rylee's phone had reached enough of a battery that she could power it on, and she left it to restart completely on top of her dresser as she paced the length of her bedroom, her mind moving in a million directions.

She was scared to death for John B, for his safety in jail, and also terrified that they were no closer to clearing his name than they had been before encountering Carla Limbrey. She was worried for Sarah, who hadn't managed to stop crying since she returned from talking to her father to plead for him to do the right thing and turn Rafe in. She was worried about her fellow Pogues, for JJ especially, who felt that they had failed John B, let him down by not being able to clear his name.

Selfishly, Rylee also couldn't stop thinking about what was going to happen to her. Shoupe had been integral in her getting sent off to the foster home, and she was sure that he had some sort of legal duty to report that she'd turned up back home. Her eyes flitted constantly to the window in her bedroom, waiting for the moment that Cheryl's car would pull up to the house to haul her back to another state, another group home.
