I woke up to the sound of my bedroom door creaking, and my mother's gentle voice as she entered my room with a warm smile. "Good morning, honey," she greeted me as she walked towards my bed. As she approached, her attention was drawn to my countenance, and particularly my eyes, which were swollen and inflamed; a result of my unrelenting tears throughout the night. This was a fact that I had not yet shared with anyone. She placed her hand on my forehead and remarked, "You have a fever, my dear." Her touch was soft and comforting, and I felt her love and care radiating through her fingertips. With her by my side, I knew that everything would be okay.

"Oh no, sweetie! You'll have to stay home. But don't worry, Mommy's got you covered! I'll whip up a tasty breakfast for you before I head out to work. I'll make sure to include all your favorite things to make you feel better. If you need anything at all, just give me a holler and I'll be there in a jiffy. Remember to take your medicine and rest up! Love you lots and hope you feel better," Mom always knew how to brighten up my day, even when I was feeling down. But it was difficult for me to confide in her about the struggles I was facing, knowing that it would only worry her. It wasn't that I didn't trust her, but sometimes it's easier to keep things to yourself rather than burden those you love with your problems.

After chowing down on some breakfast, I headed back to my room to pop my meds and start feeling better. I figured I'd hit up my buds in our group chat to shoot the breeze and see what's up.

I let out a deep, exasperated sigh and muttered to myself, "What should I do now?" As I glanced at my phone, the bright screen display showed me that it was only 9:42 a.m. With nothing to do and feeling unwell, the overwhelming sensation of boredom had set in, like a thick fog that refused to dissipate. I tried to shake it off, but it clung to me like a leech. Suddenly, a spark of inspiration struck me, and I remembered my abandoned diary that had been a gift from my parents on my seventh Christmas. Without hesitation, I hopped off my bed and began to search for it. After a few minutes of rummaging through piles of books and clutter, I yelled with excitement, "Here you are!" I had finally found it on one of my bookshelves. The book had a luxurious leather cover, and I had adorned it with beautiful flower stickers, along with a few cute unicorn stickers that I had saved for a special occasion. I carefully blew off the dust and opened it, feeling a sense of nostalgia and comfort as I flipped to the first page. It said:

Dear Diary,
Today, on April 16, 2017, was super-duper cool! Mommy and Daddy took me and my brother Noah to the zoo. We saw lots of weird animals, and I even had a close call with an ostrich that tried to take my peanuts. Can you believe that? But then Noah came to the rescue. He hit the ostrich on the neck and said, "If anyone touches my sister, they're gonna get it!" Then we pinky-promised that he'll always love me and he'll look after me and keep me safe from the bad guys.
I really love Noah and I want to be like him, strong.
Love,
Leslie

The vivid memory of the promise my brother had made to me brought tears to my eyes. He had promised to always be there for me, to protect me from harm, and to look after me. However, as time passed, he broke his promise, leaving me feeling vulnerable and alone. The realization of his betrayal was a painful one, and it still haunts me to this day.

Nowadays, I don't cry for attention. Instead, my tears are a desperate cry for help, a plea for my brother to understand me. The feeling of loneliness often engulfs me, leaving me with no choice but to release my emotions through tears. However, I find solace in the company of my closest friends, who provide brief moments of respite from the pain.

Growing up, my brother was not only my sibling but also my confidant and my closest friend. Together, we went on countless adventures and formed an unbreakable bond. He was not only my partner in crime but also my protector, always there for me when I needed him. Our connection was so strong that it seemed nothing could ever come between us.

But then, everything changed one day without any explanation. My brother's sudden hatred towards me pierced my heart like a sharp dagger. I was left feeling lost and bewildered, desperately trying to recall any wrongdoing on my part. However, I could not pinpoint any specific incident that would warrant such a drastic shift in his feelings towards me. The pain of his rejection became unbearable, and I yearned for the day when we could restore our once-cherished relationship.

Every day, I held onto the hope that my brother would eventually recognize the depth of my love for him. The hope that he would reach out to me, ready to mend the broken bond that had left me feeling shattered, is what kept me going.
