I slowly opened my eyes and was greeted with the sight of my mother's kind face leaning over me. Her gentle kiss on my forehead brought a sense of warmth and comfort to my heart. It was then that I realized I must have fallen asleep while crying, my cheeks still damp with tears. This had become an all-too-familiar occurrence for me lately, as my worries and fears seemed to follow me even into my dreams, leaving me feeling exhausted and emotionally drained. Nevertheless, I took solace in the fact that my mother was always there for me, offering her unwavering love and support. "Your fever's gone," she cheerfully announced, beaming with a bright smile. "How about we go shopping today?" I gave her an affirmative nod as I quickly made my way to my closet, eager to change into my cozy and comfortable beige hoodie, adorned with a subtle logo, and my trusty black sweatpants, which had seen their fair share of wear and tear but still managed to hug my legs in all the right places.

As I made my way down the stairs, I was greeted by my father. Suddenly, my attention was drawn to my brother, who seemed to be in a state of distress. "Oh no," he exclaimed, "Mom? Look what she's wearing, her sweatpants are torn on her knee! Let her change or she's going to ruin our lives, Mom, our lives!" His tone was dramatic, and I couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the situation. My mother, on the other hand, was quick to diffuse the tension. "Honey, can you change into something more...outgoing?" she said, her warm smile instantly putting my brother at ease. The love and concern in her voice were palpable, and it was clear that she only had our best interests at heart. Noah and I locked eyes, both of us wearing expressions of anger and frustration. In a swift motion, I stormed off to my room, determined to change my mood along with my clothes. I slipped into my favorite pair of flare jeans and a crisp white shirt, adding a stylish jacket and sunglasses to complete the look. I slipped on my Chuck Taylor Converse shoes and stomped over to my mom's car.

As I yanked open the passenger door, I was greeted with the sight of my irritating older brother sitting right beside her. "What in the world is he doing here?" I spat out, my annoyance and frustration plain to see. "Hey, your brother is coming with us to the mall, is that okay with you?" asked my mother. I considered making a snarky remark about how my Noah had nothing else to do since his girlfriend broke up with him, but I decided against it and settled for a more neutral response, "Yeah, it's alright I guess." I couldn't help but think that having my brother tag along might be a bit of a drag, but I didn't want to offend my mom by saying so. Earlier, Lizzie sent me a video of my brother getting dumped by that chick in front of the entire cafeteria, and I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants! I mean, it's not funny that he got dumped, but the way it happened was like something out of a rom-com. I'm just glad I wasn't there to witness it in person, or I'd be embarrassed.

As soon as I slid into the back seat, I knew I had to take action. I couldn't let him get away with what he had done. So, I made a decision right then and there - this outing was going to be a living nightmare for him. As soon as we arrived at the mall, my eyes lit up with excitement as I spotted the shopping cart. Without hesitation, I eagerly hopped into the cart and convinced my mother to have Noah push me around. The feeling of the cold metal against my skin brought back fond memories of our childhood days when we used to do this often. The nostalgia lifted my spirits and filled me with a bittersweet combination of frustration and sadness, as I realized how much we had grown up and how rare it had become for us to indulge in these simple pleasures. I gazed at my brother and he grinned at me, and I grinned back at him. At that moment, my heart overflowed with joy knowing that he had smiled at me after so many years of cold distance between us.

I sat there, determined to execute my plan and make his life difficult. Despite making him carry my shopping bags and trying everything, I couldn't succeed. But this setback only fueled my determination to keep trying and never give up until I achieve what I want. My mind was in turmoil and I couldn't help but question my desires. Doubt and childhood memories crept in, causing me to feel uneasy and anxious. A couple of tears trickled down my cheeks, and I quickly wiped them away as soon as Noah noticed and excused myself to the bathroom. As I looked at myself in the mirror, tears began to flow down my cheeks, and I couldn't help but let out a few sobs. After a while, I took a deep breath and wiped away my tears. As I left the bathroom, I felt a sense of relief knowing that it's okay to feel vulnerable and emotional.

As soon as we arrived home, my mom headed straight to the kitchen. It was then that I heard a voice say, "Someone's crying a lot." I turned my head to see my brother standing there with a smirk on his face. I could feel my face turning numb as I tried to stammer out an explanation, but the words just wouldn't come. Feeling defeated, I quickly made my way to my bedroom, still reeling from the sting of my brother's words. It was hard to believe that he, of all people, would be the one to say something that meant a lot to me.

As I sat in my room, I heard a soft knock on my door. Confidently, I called out to the person to come in, and to my surprise, it was Noah. He stood in the doorway, looking hesitant, and asked if we could talk.

"What about?" I asked, curious and confident.

Noah took a deep breath and said, "About you. I know we don't always get along, but I'm worried about you. You cry a lot and you barely sleep at night. Am I the only one who knows what's going on?"

I nodded, feeling a lump in my throat. I had been struggling with some personal issues, and I had chosen not to confide in anyone. But somehow, Noah had known since he saw me crying.

He extended his pinky finger and said, "I promise I won't tell anyone. Pinky promise?" I hesitated for a moment, remembering how he had broken promises in the past. But this time, something in his eyes made me trust him.

"Okay," I said firmly, linking my pinky finger with his. "You're the only one who knows. But please, don't tell anyone else."

Noah nodded solemnly. "I won't. You can trust me." Then, he surprised me by wrapping his arms around me in a hug. "You need this," he whispered before letting go and heading back to his room.

I sat there for a while, feeling a strange mix of emotions. Part of me was grateful to have someone who cared about me, but another part of me was angry that I trusted him with something that nobody knew about.
