"Ugh, are we there yet?" I groaned. We've been stuck in the car for two hours, and it feels like ages, but we're still not at the campsite. "The stupid GPS says we've got 38 more minutes to go. Can you chill for a second?" Noah said, trying to calm me down. "Okay, okay, fine," I replied, rolling my eyes.

"Hey Mom, I've decided to bring Noah with me," I declared.
But I was a little confused about how Noah agreed to come with me, so I asked her, "Did you talk to Noah? How did you convince him to drive us for 3 hours?"
"That's good news! I'm so proud of you for taking the initiative. And don't worry, I promised him a new phone if he went with you," she said with a warm smile.
End of flashback
"Lizzie! Have you got your black short shorts and the floral crop top?" I exclaimed eagerly. Lizzie and I had decided to dress alike throughout the camping trip, and I couldn't wait to see us in matching outfits.
"Yep," she replied with a satisfied grin, the "p" sound popping out of her lips. Our eyes met, and we both squealed with excitement like young children.
We were all crammed in the car, when Noah, who was driving, glanced at us through the rearview mirror. Cole, who was sitting next to Noah, turned to us with a look of annoyance. Oliver, who was sitting next to me, rolled his eyes along with them.
"Oh my god, you girls are the worst. Can't you just be quiet for a second? And Leslie, those shorts you're not allowed to wear them," Noah said, as if he was the fashion police.
I was not having it. "First of all, it's none of your business, Noah. You're just here because Mom's getting you a new phone. Second, Mom said I can wear whatever I want and your opinion doesn't matter. And third, fuck off," I said, feeling a little bit feisty.
The car fell silent as we all sat there, awkwardly. It wasn't the most pleasant ride to the camp, that's for sure.
As our car pulled up to the campsite, I could feel the anticipation building within me. I had been looking forward to this trip for days, and it was finally happening. Oliver shared my excitement and couldn't contain his joy as he exclaimed, "We're here!" We eagerly stepped out of the car, and I took in the surroundings. My heart sank as I saw that mud had overtaken the area. The once green and lush campsite was now a brown and muddy mess. It was not the picturesque scene I had pictured in my mind, and I couldn't help but feel disappointed.
However, Noah, who seemed to be taking charge, quickly gathered us all together and started delegating tasks. "Okay, let's distribute the tasks," he said. "Lizzie, Leslie, and Oliver, you guys can gather the wood while Cole and I start setting up the tents. We'll wait for you guys to come back before we start a bonfire and cook our dinner."
As we set out on our camping trip, I couldn't help but feel annoyed by Noah's bossy attitude. He acted as if he was the leader of the group just because Mom had asked him to come along. It seemed like he was trying to take control of the situation, but I didn't say anything. Instead, I went about my assigned tasks, determined to make the most of the trip despite the less-than-ideal start. Despite the frustrations, I tried to remain positive and focus on the beautiful scenery around us. The fresh air and peaceful surroundings were a welcome change from my usual routine, except for the mud, and I was excited to spend time with my friends.
As we ventured into the dense woods to gather firewood for our bonfire, the crisp autumn air filled our lungs, invigorating us with each breath. As we trudged through the underbrush, our eyes were treated to a stunning array of vibrant colors as the leaves of the towering trees shifted from green to gold and red. Though we managed to amass a substantial amount of firewood, my body bore the brunt of the task, with three jagged scratches marring my arm and knee, accompanied by two unsightly bruises. Despite the physical discomfort, the thrill of exploration kept me going, and I reveled in the opportunity to discover the hidden treasures nestled within the forest. The highlight of the trip, of course, was stumbling upon a breathtaking waterfall, its powerful cascade crashing against the rocks below. I couldn't wait to revisit the spot and bask in its beauty once more.
Lizzie's reaction was priceless as she exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, I'm so mad right now! Look at me, I look like I just got into a fight with a group of monkeys. And what's with all these leaves in my hair? Do I look like a tree or something? Wait, is that a bug? Get it out, get it out!" Lizzie shouted, shaking her head vigorously as she tried to rid her hair of any unwanted visitors.
As we trudged through the muddy terrain, our group was in high spirits, laughing uncontrollably at the ridiculousness of our situation. But amidst all the merriment, I noticed that Lizzie and I shared a similar sentiment - a longing to rid ourselves of the grime that clung to our skin and clothes. A glimmer of inspiration struck me, and I turned to Lizzie, excitement bubbling up inside me. "Lizzie, you won't believe what I discovered. There's a beautiful waterfall hidden in the woods just behind us. We could go there tomorrow and take a refreshing dip with our clothes on!"
Lizzie's face lit up with anticipation, and she pumped her fist in the air, grinning from ear to ear. "Yes, let's do it. I can't wait to get these things off me!"
"Come on, bitches, let's go light the bonfire," Oliver said grinning, while Lizzie slapped him on his forehead.
We had an amazing night under the stars, enjoying roasted chicken and s'mores while chatting and laughing. Although Noah seemed to be glued to his phone, I could tell he was listening closely because he would flash a warm smile every time someone cracked a joke. Eventually, we retired to our tents around 1 am - Lizzie and I in one tent and the boys in another.
But then, in the dead of night, I was jolted awake by the sound of rustling leaves and animal noises. I was too scared to wake up Cole and Oliver, so I quickly grabbed my phone and texted Noah for help. Can you imagine how relieved I was when he responded right away?
Old Bitch
Me: Help! There are animal noises!
Old Bitch: K.
K?! What the fuc- I heard a small tap on our tent. "Scaredy cat, huh?" he teased with a smirk. I rolled my eyes and retorted, "Shut up, you jerk," before playfully slapping his hand away. "Whatever, I'll sleep here tonight so you don't wet your pants," he joked, holding up a pillow and blanket.
I can vividly recall the days when my brother and I would beg our parents to let us sleep in the same room. Whenever we succeeded, he would snuggle up next to me, draping an arm around my neck. I miss those precious moments when he would sleep so peacefully and even smile in his sleep. As I glance towards him, I see him peacefully slumbering by my side, with his warm arm embracing my neck and a serene smile gracing his lips.
The morning was off to an early start at 6 a.m. We were wide awake and decided to whip up some fried eggs for breakfast. To our surprise, they turned out to be delicious. After finishing breakfast, we made our way to the waterfall to shower. We planned on changing our clothes afterward, so we stopped to grab them on the way.
"Okay, what do we wear?" I asked, feeling a bit uncertain about my outfit choice.
"The black top with the white stripes and the sporty shorts with the mesh panels," she replied confidently as if she had carefully planned out our outfits ahead of time.
"I'm all set, let's hit the road!" I exclaimed as I grabbed my clothes in a rush of excitement.
We strolled through the woods for a few minutes, following the sound of rushing water. As we approached the source of the sound, the lush green trees gave way to a breathtaking sight. The waterfall was a majestic display of nature's beauty, its crystal-clear water cascading down the rocks in perfect harmony. The bright sunlight shimmered on the water, creating a dazzling display of colors. Lizzie was awestruck by the sight and couldn't resist expressing her amazement, "Wow! It's so beautiful here! Why didn't you tell me about this place earlier, you silly goose?" I chuckled and replied, "We've only been here for less than 12 hours, girl. There's still so much to discover."
The water was pleasantly warm, and we swam with joyous abandon. We splashed and played, our laughter echoing across the surface of the water. As we emerged from the pool, we felt a sense of relief wash over us, knowing that we had successfully washed off any dirt or grime that clung to our skin. At 1pm, we decided to freshen up and slipped into some fresh clothes before heading back to our cozy tent.
