Hii welcome!!
Sorry about any grammatical errors and spelling mistakes in advance. This is my first story, and English is not my first language neither my second, so please cut me some slacks, thank you.
Enjoy!
POV: Enid
I woke up by a loud sound of banging on my door, I try ignoring it so I can get more sleep. I stayed up all night thinking about my new school. But the more I tried to go back to sleep and ignore the banging on my door, the more it got louder. So I got up, open the door without looking who it was, and went back to laying down to continue my sleep. But I felt someone snatch the pillow under my head and hit me with it almost immediately.
"Hey! What was that for?!" I turn while rubbing my sore head to be face with my annoyed looking best friend, Fatima. She was wearing an Aqiqa, a grey Abaya.
Fatima has been my best and only friend since we relocated to Miami. She's Arab, with pretty black curly hair, gorgeous melanin skin, dark beautiful eyes, which is a shade of brown right now, due to the penetration of the morning sun coming from my window. She's so pretty in hijab, but she doesn't believe me when I say it.
Tima and I were raised in Islam. With both her parents being Arab and from Egypt. And mine, well, my mom came from an Islamic home but my father did not, he became a Muslim when he met my mom.
But us being raised in Islam doesn't make us the typical Islamic girls. Well maybe I am a bit typical because of my father, but Fatima isn't. Her parents dont care, as along as she prays her five daily salats (prayers), it's all good.
"For making me stand at your door for more than three minutes and making us late for school," my best friend said, waking me up from my trance.
I glanced at my alarm clock which read 6:35, indicating I'm late to pray fajr, and my father and sister already prayed without me. I'm always the first to wake up in this house to pray and do house chores, also to prepare food and get my sister ready for school, but I guess not today.
"You prayed without me?!" I ask as I quickly got up from bed and hurried to the bathroom to freshen up and do my ablution to pray fajr.
"No I did not E, why do you think I'm here? She asked sarcastically, as she makes herself comfortable on my bed.
"Now hurry your ass up, you don't wanna be late on your first day at your new school." she shouted but I could hear the excitement in her voice as I hurried to the bathroom.
Even though she didn't get the scholarship with me, which was supposed to be for two people. But they changed their mind and accepted only me. She was still so happy for me.
Fatima is rich, she only went for a scholarship so we wouldn't go to different schools and because her parents said she won't change school, so she thought having the scholarship would change their mind. But unfortunately that didn't happen.
I on the other hand, we're not loaded. Well, we used to be, now we are just average all thanks to my dad. And my father being as 'nice' as he is, gave me no option but to win a scholarship, or he wouldn't pay for my education or my sister's. He said he could only pay for one, so I had no choice. Not that he couldn't afford to pay, he just chose not to.
