POV: OLIVIA

I burst out laughing as I watched Enid stomp off, all flustered. I don’t know why, but I love getting under her skin. She’s so damn cute when she pouts.

Yeah… I think I just found myself a new hobby.

Smirking, I slung my bag over my shoulder and headed downstairs. My nap mat? Left it there. Nobody ever comes up to the rooftop anyway. Well—except her.

"Olivia, you’re late. As always," Mr. Tisdale said, arms crossed, eyes sharp.

No shit, Sherlock.

Tisdale’s one of those teachers I can’t stand. Power-hungry, uptight… but unfortunately, he teaches photography. The one subject I actually like.

"You can take the empty seat at the back, next to—"

I zoned out halfway through his sentence, distracted by the reflection in the window. Damn, I look good. I flipped my hair back, then finally noticed the person sitting alone.

Enid.

Just my luck.

I grinned wickedly as her eyes darted to me. She huffed and turned away, pretending I wasn’t there. Cute.

The second I slid into the chair, her vanilla perfume filled my nose. Sweet, soft, utterly distracting. My gaze lingered on her side profile—amber eyes glued to the board, brunette hair tucked neatly behind her ear.

She’s beautiful. Annoying as hell, but beautiful.

POV: Enid

Anyone but her. Seriously, anyone but her.

I forced myself to stare at the board. If I ignored her long enough, maybe she’d disappear.

Why does life hate me so much? I already have at least one class with each of the stupid golden four. Do you know how exhausting that is?

I’ve cussed more today than I have in my entire life.

"Okay, class," Mr. Tisdale announced, "you’ll be working on a group project for the next few weeks. I’ve already assigned partners—you’ll be working with your seatmate. No changes."

My heart sank. I turned to my right.

Of course. The devil herself.

Olivia smirked at me, then winked.

I groaned internally and whipped back around. "Mr. Tisdale—"

"No changing, Miss Jones," he cut me off, pointing his finger at me. "This project is eighty percent of your grade. Don’t screw it up."

Eighty percent?! I slumped into my chair, arms crossed.

When the bell finally rang, I was out of my seat in seconds. But before I could escape, a hand closed around my arm.

"We have to talk about the project," Olivia said, her voice smooth as ever.

I yanked free and glared at her. "What do you want?"

"When do I come over?" Her blue eyes glinted with mischief.

"Not my place. Maybe yours?" I asked, desperately hoping.

"Fine by me." She shrugged like it was nothing.

"When’s good for you? I’d rather get this over with."

She leaned closer, lips curling. "I’ve got time for a beautiful damsel like you anytime. But what’s the rush, babe?

My face heated instantly. "Do. Not. Ever. Call. Me. That. Again." I snapped, emphasizing each word before storming toward the door.

"Call you what, babe?" she shouted after me. I didn’t have to look back to know she was smirking.

The day finally ended. After saying goodbye to my friends, I waited by the driveway for Tima’s car.

"Hey, Jones."

I flinched at the familiar voice.

"What do you want now, Grayson?" I asked, already exhausted.

"We didn’t exchange numbers. How am I supposed to send you my address?"

I handed her my phone without a word. She dialed her number, then smirked as she passed it back.

"Smile for the camera, babe."

I crossed my arms, frowning. "Just hurry up."

She chuckled, snapping my picture before handing me her phone. "Your turn."

She fluffed her hair, adjusted her shirt, and winked. "Gotta look hot for a fine lady."

I rolled my eyes so hard it hurt.

After I took her picture, she straddled her black motorcycle—of course it was black. Everything about her screamed black.

"Hey, Jones," she called, leaning down so her lips brushed my ear. "I give you full permission to masturbate while gawking at my picture."

My eyes went wide. Heat rushed to my cheeks. Shivers chased down my spine.

Before I could respond, a car horn beeped.

"If you’re done, can we go now?"

I whipped around to see Tima hanging out the window, smirking.

"Hey…" I stammered, forcing a small smile. "Didn’t see you there." I slid into her car quickly.

"I figured," she teased, pulling out of the lot.

"Bye, babe!" Olivia’s voice rang out behind me. Helmet on, she revved the engine and sped off.

Tima snorted. "Babe? Girl, you move fast."

My cheeks burned hotter. "It’s not what you think. I’ll explain later. Just… let me nap for now, please?"

She nodded, still smirking. I leaned back, closing my eyes, trying to shake off the image of that stupid blondie’s grin.

Stupid. Annoying. Infuriating.

And way too hot for her own good.
