POV: Enid
I tried wriggling out of her grip for what had to be the sixth time, but Olivia’s arms were like iron bars.
"You don’t give up easily, do you?" she asked, eyes forward as she carried me through the hallway like it was the most normal thing in the world.
I ignored her, mostly because admitting defeat to Olivia Grayson was against my personal code of conduct. But deep down, I knew there was no escaping her unless she decided to let me go. And stubborn meets stubborn? Yeah....this could take forever.
Suddenly, her hold loosened. My heart jumped. For one terrifying second, I thought we were both about to hit the ground. Instinct took over—I wrapped my arms around her neck, fingers lacing tightly at the back, eyes squeezing shut.
When nothing happened, I peeked one eye open.
"Comfy now, are we?" Olivia teased, looking down at me with that maddening smirk.
I instantly pulled away, face heating up. The second I let go, though, I wobbled again, and the fear of actually falling made my stomach twist.
"Relax, princess. I’ve got you," she said, laughing.
That’s when I realized. She hadn’t stumbled. At all.
"You did that on purpose," I muttered darkly. "I hate you."
"If I touch the ground, even by accident, I’ll murder you."
"Feisty. I like it."
I groaned, which only made her chuckle as she carried me out into the parking lot.
Finally—finally—she set me down. She walked straight to her motorcycle like nothing was wrong, while I crossed my arms, glaring daggers at her back.
"So… why drag me out here like some damsel in distress?" I demanded.
She tossed me a helmet instead of answering.
"Put that on."
"Excuse me? No. Answer me first."
"You could’ve just asked me to put it on for you, babe," she said with a wink.
I snatched the helmet out of her hand. "Why did you bring me here, Olivia?"
"Oh, so you do know my name." She slid her own helmet on, smug as ever. "We have a project, remember?"
"Yes, but what does that have to do with—" I held the helmet up between us. "—this?
"Because we’re starting today. Get on."
I blinked at her. "Are you insane? I’m not skipping class for you. Some of us actually care about grades."
She sighed, impatient. "We only have one class left, and it’s not like I’m dragging you to a rave. We’ll work on the project. Stop being dramatic."
I hated to admit she had a point. Ugh. Maybe Mia would share her notes with me later.
"Fine," I muttered.
"Took you long enough." She patted the seat behind her. "Need a hand, princess?"
"This is kidnapping."
"You literally just agreed."
Rolling my eyes, I climbed on.
"You know," she said, starting the bike, "you only said yes because of my smile."
"You’re so full of yourself."
"Maybe. But I wouldn’t mind being full of you."
"Can you shut up and just drive?"
