The cries of pack mates filled the air as I watched unable to save them, the sky was red and ominous, blood was everywhere and stained the air. My blood wolfs claws wracked across the belly of an unlucky pack mate who dared drew close enough to her, my wolf left them behind to die a slow and painful death... everyone was fleeing, trying to get as far away from me as possible. Chaos was everywhere, it enveloped my pack, my home, like an everlasting, unending wildfire.
"Phoenix!" A voice called out to me, though I was not the one in control, they somehow still knew I was fighting. "Phoenix please stop this madness!" The voice, my mother, begged me. My wolf turned her head towards the woman who raised me. My wolf turned towards her and slowly stalking closer. "Please, come back to me my pup..." her voice begging as she whispers softly...
...My wolf pounced on her and killed her...
I awoke with a start, gasping for breath, my body drenched in cold sweat. The room was shrouded in darkness, save for the faint glow of the moon seeping through the window. The images from the nightmare still haunted me, their grip on my mind refusing to loosen.
Before I could fully register my surroundings, I sensed a presence, a comforting and familiar presence. Draegon stood at the edge of the room, his eyes filled with concern as he gazed at me. He had sensed my duress, felt the turmoil within me, and had come to my side.
Without a word, he moved closer, his arms wrapping around me in a protective and reassuring embrace. I could feel the warmth of his body against mine, the steady rhythm of his heart, and it grounded me in reality.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I buried my face in his shoulder, my body trembling from the remnants of the nightmare. Draegon held me close, his touch a soothing balm against the storm of emotions that raged within me. I clung to him, letting the tears flow freely as I found solace in his presence.
For a while, we remained like that, locked in a silent embrace, the moonlight casting a gentle glow around us. It was a moment of vulnerability, a moment where I let down the walls I had built to protect myself. With Draegon by my side, I felt safe, understood, and unburdened.
As the minutes ticked by, the nightmare's grip on me began to loosen, replaced by a sense of calm and comfort that I had longed for. I knew that the challenges ahead were far from over, but in this moment, I found strength in Draegon's unwavering support.
In the quiet of the night, I whispered my gratitude, my voice filled with emotion. "Thank you, Draegon," I said softly, my words carrying the weight of the world I had carried for so long. "Thank you for being here when I needed you the most."
