MAL'S REASON

"Come on." Jay says as he grabs a rock before throwing it at the 'danger flying rocks' sign, opening the gate.

"Wish me luck." Ben says.

"All the way up." Carlos tells him.

"Good luck." Evie, Marley, and Luke call after him, Luke pulling Marley to his chest, and wrapping his arms around her waist from behind.

Ben walks into a room covered in paintings before finding Mal painting on the wall.

"At least I don't see a picture of me with horns and a pitch fork." Ben says causing Mal to gasp and look at him.

"Ben." Mal says with a shocked sigh. Ben walks towards her but she holds her hands out for him to stop.

"Mal, I'm so sorry about our fight. It was all my fault. It...please come home." Ben says before holding out his ring to her.

"Ben, I am home." Mal says as she walks towards him.

"I brought the limo. It's a sweet ride." Ben says trying to lighten the mood.

"I don't fit in Ben. I really gave it my best shot. And if you think I can change, I think you're wrong." Mal tells him.

"Then I'll change. I'll skip school, have more fun. You know, I...I'll blow off some of my responsibilities." Ben says trying to change her mind.

"No, no! See? I'm such a terrible influence. It's only a matter of time before I do something so messed up that not only does the kingdom turn on me, they turn on you." Mal says.

"Don't quit us, Mal." Ben says as he grabs her hand before putting his ring in her palm, "The people love. I love you. Don't you love me?" 

Mal so badly wants to tell him that she does but she has to do the right thing. She grabs the ring and lightly smiles as she remembers when he gave it to her, before placing it back i his hand and pushing his hand back towards him.

"I have to take myself out of the picture because it's what's best for you, for Marley, and it's what's best for Auradon." Mal tells him as she holds back tears.

"Mal, no, please." Ben says as he tries to get closer to her but she puts her hand his chest to stop him.

"Ben...I can't do this." Mal says before turning away, "You should go, Ben. Ben please go. Please leave."

Ben stares at her for a few seconds before walking away. Mal could feel her heart breaking with each step he took away from her as she starts to cry.

"So? Where's my sister?" Marley asks as Ben comes down the stairs before the gate closes behind him.

"She's not coming back." Ben tells her before walking away, causing Marley to sigh sadly and put her head back on Luke's shoulder and close her eyes as Luke kisses the side of her head.

"What?" Evie asks not believing it, "I'll talk to her." Evie walks over to the speaker, "M? Mal, it's Evie. Let me just talk to you for a second. Mal, come on." Mal walks over tot he speaker on her end before locking the gate.

"Go away!" Mal tells them.

"Let's give her a couple of hours to cool off." Jay tells Evie.

"Guys! Where's Ben?" Carlos asks as he looks in the direction that Ben went.

"Ben? Ben!" Evie calls before noticing someone walking towards them, "Ben don't scare us like that."

"Don't scare you?" Harry asks as he reveals his face causing Marley's head to snap in his direction a large smile forming on her face, while Luke looks at her confused, "But that's my specialty."

"Harr.." Evie starts before an excited squeal is heard.

"Cookie!" Marley exclaims and before Luke can stop her, she's rushing out of his arms and throwing her self at Harry.

Harry laughs as he catches her, stumbling back a bit from the impact, "Oh Sunshine, how I've missed you." 

"I've missed you too, Cookie." Marley says happily as she hugs her best friend tighter.

Luke growls lowly watching Marley with this guy, before Carlos nudges him.

"Don't worry about it. You don't have competition. Harry loves Marley like a sister. They've been best friends since before they could walk." Carlos says causing Luke to relax as Marley had told him about her best friend who was the son of Captain Hook.

"I'm really sorry what is about to go down Sunshine. I am so glad you got your happily ever after." Harry whispers to her as he puts her back down on her feet.

Marley smiles sadly, "I know Cookie. You'll always be my best friend. No matter what." She whispers as she moves back to Luke who wraps his arms around her and holds her close.

Harry looks at Luke, "You keep treating her right. She deserves all the happiness in the world and more." Luke nods his head and kisses the top of Marley's head.

"Now. Back to the King. We nicked him. And if you want to ever see him again, have the twins come to the Chip Shoppe tonight. Uma wants a little visit." Harry says, "Aw Jay. Seems like you've lost your touch."

"Hey!" Jay says as he starts forward causing Evie to hold him back.

Harry barks at Carlos, before turning to walk away, "See ya later, Sunshine." 

Marley smiles sadly and calls out, "In a while Cookie."

With Harry now gone, they all start climbing up the side of the hide-out to tell Mal what just happened.
