"If we were a movie, you'd be the right guy. And I'd be the best friend that you'd fall in love with."
Okay...things are fine...I hope.
After taking a few minutes for the three of us to calm down after the whole incident, we all go back to the party. Immediately heads turn in our direction as we walk in. The problem is I can't tell if they're looking at us because of what happened with the guy who's name I still don't know, or because I just walked in with two guys, at least one of which I know for a fact people are speculating if we're involved. For all I know people think we're in a three way couple or something.
Luckily people quickly lose interest and the party resumes as normal. Nat and Wanda do another round of shots with me to try and release the nerves again.
I'm really starting to feel the effects of the alcohol, and based on what I see around me, others are too. The party is livening up just a little and you can feel it throughout the entire room. No one is getting rowdy but you can see everyone loosen up. And by the time I end up at the bar again, I'm ordering my third drink.
"I can't help but notice the guys have been keeping away from you now." Bucky says, beer bottle in his hand. Obviously it does nothing for him, so I'm sure he's drinking it out of habit.
I chuckle at his words, noting that pretty much everyone has been avoiding me now. "Next time I go out to a club I'm bringing you with me so you can threaten a guy, that way they leave me alone for the whole night."
He doesn't say anything, but the smile on his face kind of tells me that he agrees with that statement.
This is...bad right? Both of us agreeing that we should go out together so that he can make sure other guys know I'm not available to them. Are we just not going to talk about the fact that we're essentially establishing a relationship but refusing to call it that.
I look out towards the others, trying to get my mind off of this before I spiral into overthinking. I see Tony, Rhodey, Bruce, Nat and Clint talking amongst each other. Wanda and Vision are hanging out together. And then I see Sam with his arm around Janeah, apparently enjoying the new company. And talking with them is Steve. And as much as my eyes want to focus solely on him, I can't help but notice something slightly amusing. There are several women near him. Not directly next to him, but nearby. They're practically gawking at him, looking like they're waiting for him to notice them so they can take the opportunity to talk to him.
He could have any woman he wants...why does he want the one who's not...I mean someone who's...
Me...why does he want me.
"Is he oblivious to the attention or is he just pretending not to care." I say, noting that he has not once looked over at anyone besides Sam and Janeah.
My comment makes Bucky scoff. "Please, the guy went from being basically ignored to becoming every woman's dream man in a matter of minutes." he says with a chuckle. "He knows."
I look back towards him and see a woman pass by, swaying her hips as best as she can as she looks towards him, clearly trying to get his attention.
But he gives them nothing.
"So he's just not interested in them." I say I say, kind of finding the whole thing so strange. These women are beautiful, and for the most part, nice. I'm surprised I haven't heard of him dating anyone. Even before I got here.
"He gets a little nervous if they're too forward." Bucky says, which would kind of explain why the girls seem to be holding back. "He's still kind of an old fashioned guy."
