Summary: You're out of the basement again, wandering the house. You haven't heard from Nightmare in a while, so you're starting to get bored on your own. Thankfully, it seems a familiar rusty red fox doesn't mind keeping you company.

The sound of bells.
You awake to the sound of bells chiming, echoing somewhere far away. It's time to go, again.
This routine is far too familiar, and starting to grow old. Is this truly freedom? You can't help but wonder sometimes. You can only go so many places in this house, most of the doors being locked away from your curious eyes. Your midnight bear would sometimes take you into one to quell your curiosities for a spell, if you were 'good'. But for some strange reason, he hasn't come back in a while. Your midnight bear had a habit of disappearing for days at a time sometimes, when he was furious or plotting something, but it's been weeks.
The silence was scaring you.
You climbed the stairs from the basement, eager to see the bright red wallpaper of the surface house once more. Just as you'd hoped, there it was, illuminated faintly by the dim lamp perched atop a hall table. You traced your fingers against the wood of the table, then the wall, idly mapping out the house in your head. You'd spent the last couple of weeks exploring more and more without your midnight bear looming over your shoulder. You noticed the shadows had receded some in his absence as well. The house felt oddly less... cramped without your sole companion.
Without realizing it, you found yourself at a crossroads. The intersection between the hallways upstairs. You wondered about these hallways sometimes. Did they both lead to the same place? Or did they go to separate rooms at the very end? You had only ever explored the one, after all. Then again...
You shivered, thinking about the last time you'd come here. You hadn't come up here since... You shook off the memory. You didn't want to go through that again. You didn't want to see the boy anymore. But you were still lonely.
The halls appeared empty. Not even the faint footsteps of the nightmarish animatronics thumping through the halls met your sensitive ears. There was nothing but the pitter-patter of rain against the windows. You frowned to yourself, climbing atop the dresser-table. You pulled your knees to your chest; you didn't know what to do next. Should you gather your courage and test the waters? Should you go back the way you came? Part of you wanted to explore that little girl's room, but part of you wanted to respect its finality. You didn't want to stir up the dust.
Where did the others go? Somehow you hadn't run into any of them on your way here, but then again, you didn't know where they went at the end of the night. You didn't know where they came from when the night began. There was probably still time before the 'game' began, you considered. Sometimes the others came out later in the night, taking their time and not particularly bothering the boy. Even Foxy wasn't all that busy on these kinds of nights. Your mechanical heart lifted hopefully at the thought of the rust-red fox. He hadn't minded talking to you before-- even stuck up for you! He'd even let you tag along on his... oh. Right.
You furrowed your brows, sinking back into your little ball. It was Foxy's run to the bedroom that led to you meeting the boy face-to-face. You didn't blame Foxy, not anymore. At first in the heat of the moment, that was how your mind turned, blaming his kindness for your misfortune, but once you'd calmed down you realized he wasn't at fault at all. It was just a poor stroke of luck that you'd gotten caught. You wondered if Foxy thought about it, too, if he wondered what had happened to you. You wondered if he knew, and if he blamed himself like you'd blamed him. Like your midnight bear had blamed him.
