She Was There When..

Trey POV

Dr. A: Welcome Back!" she welcomed as I came through the door.

Me: Glad to be back." I laughed taking my seat.

Dr. A: By the smile on your face I am guessing that things at home have been going good since our last conversation?" she hinted.

Me: shit straight." I nodded.

Dr. A: Is Megan enjoying the new you?" she teased.

Me: She is a lil, she still a lil cautious." I told.

Dr. A: well that can be expected." she said.

Dr. A: how was the interview?"

Me: it went well, I can't complain. I enjoyed the time with my family on the way back the most though."

Dr. A: The term family. How does that make you feel?"

Me: it makes me feel aight, ion feel no way about it really." I shrugged as she eyed me.

Dr. A: the reason I am asking is because from our previous conversations..I have never heard you address your mother, father and you as family." she said.

Me: because we ain't." I brushed off.

Me: She was my mother and he was my father, that's it." I cut down.

Dr. A: Do you think that comes from anger?" she asked as I looked away.

Me: prolly, but that's how I feel." I stated.

Me: even if I wasn't angry, I would feel the same."

Dr. A: about them not being family?"

Me: Correct."

Me: Family don't do the shit that they did."

Dr. A: well we talked about the abuse in your home being one sided Trey."

Me: we did, but I am talking about afterwards. When I got rich." I snarled.

Me: My mother fell off the face of the earth when she left but time she seen me all over the net wit money, she reappeared like she knew magic." I loathed.

Me: and my father? He never believed in my ability, he always downplayed it and when I made it he never apologized he just made excuses for how I got to where I am now."

Me: so it is what it is, I ain't stressin." I shrugged.

Me: the family I am making with Megan is all I need." I ended. Nodding, she wrote something's down on her notepad before looking back at me.

Dr. A: Let me ask you something."

Me: Shoot."

Dr. A: Your ex wife?" she said as I stiffened.

Dr. A: Did you consider her family?" she asked as I paused. I knew the answer immediately, admitting was not something that came with ease.

Me: she was."

Dr. A: did you see yourself having a family with her?"

Me:..I did." I admitted.

Me: she was suppose to be the mother of my child, of course she was family to me." I said reluctantly.

Apart of me regretted it the moment I said it, but it was true. Before Megan came, before the affair was exposed, Renee was the only family I had.

Dr. A: Do you think her passing away has had any affect on you?"

Me: like what?"

Dr. A: like anything. Renee was the woman you expected to spend the rest of your life with. There is no way you can tell me that you did not feel anything when she died." she pushed at.
