Megan POV

My lungs began to burn..

I was on fire, I was trying to breathe but I couldn't..
A hot, branding iron was stuck between my throat..
Clawing at myself, I felt reality sinking as I choked.

The two figures standing over me in the tub floated in my memory as I fought my anxiety. A calm hand was placed on my shoulder, but I was too caught up that it did not raise me from my pain, from my exposure.

I was exposed, vulnerable.

The scratches on my neck began to burn with the imprint of the hand that was wrapped around it. Clutching it tighter, what felt like a shot to the gut woke me up as I sat up, gasping for air.

Trey: you okay?" he said in his raspy voice. Holding my chest, I breathed heavy as my heartbeat like a racing horse. Cold chills chilled down my body as Trey sat up, placing his hand on my hips.

Trey: Megan?" he said. Taking a deep breath, I wiped the sweat off of my forehead as he waited for me.

Me: I'm fine." I mumbled as he rubbed my belly.

Trey: you sho?"

Me: Yeah, yeah I'm alright." I reassured him. I could feel him eyeing me through the dark before rubbing my belly a bit more.

Trey: aight well lay down." he protected as he pushed me back.

Laying down on my back, he pulled the covers over me as I rolled over to my side. His protective hand wrapped around my belly as I snuggled my back closer to his chest. His arm engulfed me as I stared at the clock on the dresser next to me.

It's green lights read the time of 4:30am.

Placing my hand on his, I played with his fingers as he easily fell asleep on me. Time began to pass me by as I could not fall back asleep. The thought of me in that tub, early in the morning..

Being attacked once again like that, it haunted me. It crept up on me like a bad memory as I tried to figure out ways around the possibilities.

If I was honest, it wasn't almost being drowned for the second time that scared me. It was the fact that the attack happened in a new house, in broad daylight.

Who the hell knew we had moved it? Who the heck was watching us that closely?

I had a few shivers as a few names answered that question. One of them was dead though, or so we thought. In the hospital that evening, I saw her.

Standing over me fully alive and well with a mincial smile on her face..

I tried to match her figure with the black shadow hovering over me that morning. It was small but big at the top, Renee was small altogether, it couldn't have been her.

Shooing those outrages thoughts away, I held onto Trey as the sun began to rise. The sound of the birds screaming at each other echoed outside as my stare had not left my bathroom door.

His alarm clock went off, blaring into the moring as he snorted himself awake. Taking his hand carefully from me, he turned on his side and shut it off before sitting up.

Closing my eyes gently, I stayed still as he checked on me. Hovering over me, he rubbed my face before sliding out of bed and heading into the bathroom.

I knew I should of have told him what truly happened, he seemed to actually believe that I was clumsy enough to break a window.

He believed me and now our safety here in the house felt jeopardized. Opening my eyes, they landed on him as he brushed his teeth in the door way.
