𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒖𝒅𝒈𝒆.LACY'S PEN TAPPED AGAINST HER PAPER as she had to come up with fancy, smart words to write in her letter that was going to be sent out to all clients. she felt someone hovering over her, her head turns as her glasses fall to the brim of her nose.
her boss was standing over her with a wide grin.
"lacy, why don't you take five dollars and grab me some coffee."
lacy eyed the money, "but coffee is only a dollar."
"get yourself something on the way then." he added, rubbing her shoulder.
she signaled him a smile to tell him she was about to get up, she felt so uncomfortable by the feeling of his warm palm on her body. lacy walks away with a gut feeling about a day she can't picture yet.
lacy unlocks her car, getting in with shivers running down her spine. she starts her car before swerving out of the parking lot.
she decided to take a turn into the dx, interested in seeing what sodapop and steve were up to. she steps out of the car to see bob sheldon getting out of his car with a blonde bombshell, that looked nothing like sherry valence who he was always on and off with.
sodapop speeds to the door and opens it for lacy as he noticed her coming in, letting the door close on bob and his mystery woman after lacy entered the store.
"thank you, soda." she started.
sodapop chuckled, "i just held the door for you, no problem."
"no i meant for last night." lacy corrected.
"oh what happened last night?" steve chimes in, leaning onto the counter.
"nothing doof lord, he just helped out with cleaning." lacy retorted.
steve stood up straight as lacy walks past him to the coffee machine, nearly burning her hand after touching the pot.
"fuck, ow!" lacy shrieked as she shook her hand up and down.
"ha!" steve shouted.
bob looks over at the commotion to see lacy giggling and laughing with sodapop and steve.
"lacy oh lacy!" bob singsonged as he approached her.
lacy turned her head with a fake smile, "bobbo."
"don't call me that." bob interrupted her.
"don't sing my name like we're friends." she snarled.
lacy closes the lid to the coffee cup before walking away from him, she grabs a chocolate bar as if she was a kid again. lacy dropped the five dollar bill onto the counter before exiting the store, ignoring sodapop calling out her name.
she gets into her car, taking a deep breath before pushing the keys into the ignition. she rests her forehead against her steering wheel, gaining the urge to scream but she had a feeling someone would be right next to her.
lacy pulls out of the parking lot, making turns left to right to get back to the office in time.
as she got in, she adjusts her skirt before bringing in her boss' coffee. he greets her by the door where he had purposely been waiting in, lacy painted a smile on when his eyes met hers.
"why thank you, lacy!" he says.
"no problem." lacy shrugs as she feels his palm rub against her back this time.
"alright well i gotta get back to my work, see you around!"
as she walked away, everything in her felt different.
