LACY STILL FELT HOMESICK EVEN AFTER MOVING BACK HOME, she still visited her parents who were more than welcoming to her, in fact they wanted her to come back but having her live an independent life was what was the best choice.

lacy's parents weren't like the other socs who held prejudices against greasers, they were actually just normal human beings who just see a normal life in a greaser. lacy's father, donavan always told lacy that the only reason a greaser had a normal life, was because they found it to be their normal.

she was only in her young years of elementary school, she never understood the meaning behind it but after meeting sodapop curtis, it felt like she started to understand.

she wished sodapop hadn't hurt people the way he did to her specifically. lacy thought he was just a charming man who would one day, promise her a happy future with a ring on her finger and a baby at the hip.

it felt like yesterday she had witnessed the scene.

- - -

HE WAS SO DISTANT TO ME, he never answered my calls like he used to, nor did he seem enthusiastic any time i walked into the room. i just felt like i had to talk to him.

his grip was tight around my waist as we slouched on his couch while watching a random show he put on. this night didn't feel like the other nights where he just begged to get lucky, i thought i'd have to seduce him just for him to talk to me.

i sat up, resting my hand on top of his chest and looked into his eyes.

"what's wrong baby?" i asked him with a desperate smile.

he shook his head but kept his eyes on the tv, "nothing's wrong."

red flag.

"you've been so distant, every time i try to talk to you it's like you're ignoring me." i explained.

"jesus, lace, i'm not ignoring you!" soda laughed, "now can we just watch the show?"

something didn't sound right, whenever he did something wrong he would just shorten his lies and defense. i didn't want my suspicions to be true but it had felt like he had cheated on me.

"sodapop curtis, i've known you for so long and i know damn well there's something you did." i began, "did you cheat or something, just tell me!"

he remained silent but i could tell by his jaw clenching, he wasn't liking what was going on.

"oh my god." i whispered to myself.

"lacy, i didn't mean it to happen-"

"you didn't mean it to happen but it still happened, if you didn't want it to mean anything then you shouldn't have done it in the first place!" i scolded him, "i give you all of my love, i give you everything and this is what you do?!"

"sodapop, i was about to decline lots of my colleges just to stay here, i almost stayed here for you! and what do you do, you fucking cheat on me!"

i stood up, waiting to leave already.

"lacy, it was a mistake!" was all he said.

i huffed, "who was it?"

"what?" i hear him answer in confusion.

"who, was it?" i slowed.

he took a second, "bridget pryce."

"of course." i scoffed.

i went to the coat rack to grab my keys and coat, sodapop stood in front of the door.

"lacy, i just need you to listen to me."

"did you sleep with her?" i asked with a hand on my hip.

"yes but it was a drunk-"

"okay goodbye, soda." i simply ended as i pushed him away.

sodapop chased me to my car, trying to stop me from closing the door on him.

"lacy, it was stupid and and i know but just please don't leave me like this." he begged.

"get away from my car before i run your head over right now!" i yelled.

i harshly reversed my car out of the driveway, sodapop was running begind my car but stopped, i watched his figure from my mirror.

i wish he hadn't hurt people, people like me.
