"Lauren? Do want to go school shopping with me and Stevie today? You guys start your first day of school tomorrow." I look up from my book to see Genny in my doorway. "Of course! But we don't need clothes, just supply's." She tells me to be ready in 10 minutes, and meet we in the kitchen so that we can make a list, because the rest of her kids need some things too.
"Ok. We need, pencils, paper, notebooks, binders, pens, highlighters, the basics." Genny starts writing the things down on a piece of paper. Cole, Adam, and Eddy are going to come with us, great.
"I like the PINK binder!" I pick up the pink binder, and shove it into Cole's chest.
"Well I like the BLUE binder!" He slams the blue binder into my hands, dropping the pink one. I stand, mouth open.
"How dare you drop the pink binder on the ground!" I drop the blue and pick up the pink one on the floor. We've been doing this for about 30 minutes. Not just with binders, all our supply's.
"Can you guys stop flirting and put both of them in the cart!" Genny says, as my face turns bright red.
"We are NOT flirting!" Me and Cole say at the same time. Everyone else laughs as we stalk away."pink." I grumble under my breath, trying to hold back my smile. "blue." He grumbles back, smirking at me.
"We got them both! Would you two just shut-up!" Adam snaps at us. Geezz who put a snake in his pants?! Cole laughs loudly, as I realize I had said that out loud.
"Shit! Adam I didn't mean to say that out loud! I'm sorry!" Adam stamps off angrily towards the food department, great I haven't even been here 24 hours and I've already pissed someone off beside Jade. After he's out of earshot, Cole and I burst out laughing. Genny gives us a questioning look, but discards our laughing.
"That.was.great!" Cole says, between laughs. We finally calm down and wipe the tears from our eyes, and get a few disgusted looks from a couple of bystanders. Cole gives them an intimidating look, and they scurry off quickly.
"We're home!" No one comes downstairs but Ivy. After getting my stuff and a snack I go up to my room to pack my new school stuff in my backpack, and take a shower. I walk in my room and set my new backpack and supply's on my desk, and grab a shower towel and start to take off my top tank-top.
"Woah! We literally just met last night!" I jump and turn to see Cole sitting on my bed watching me. It's a good thing he said something or else I would have kept going, and that would not have been good! Maybe.
"What are you doing in here!?" I say, putting my hand over my heart. "You scarred the sh-crap out of me!" He laughs at my replacement. "Ha.Ha.Ha. So funny." I say, in a mimicking tone. He laughs and pats the spot next to him, I hesitate but sit next to him.
"Don't let Jade get to you Lauren. You know shes just jealous? She needs to get off her high horse and calm the f*ck down." I frown, is this really what he wanted to talk about? He notices my change in mood.
"What? Did I say something?" I shake my head.
"No. I just don't want to talk about Jade." I sigh. "Cole? Can I please tell you something?" I ask him, already knowing he'll say yes. "Of course." I look down at my hands.
"I just need to tell someone else besides my brother." Cole turns to look at me. "Go ahead." He pushes. I tell him all about my family, what happened and everything. By the end I feel as if me and Cole are suddenly closer. He takes my hand, surprising me.
"Lauren, I'm glad you told me this." He hesitates, "Is it weird that I feel like we're suddenly closer?" I let out a giggle, "I was just thinking the same thing!" He laughs, "Were you going to take a shower?" I nod my head, not wanting him to let go of my hand. "Go! We can talk later!" I laugh, hesitate, then get up groaning. Cole laughs at my reaction, and watches me walk into the bathroom connected to my room.
When I'm done with my shower, I walk out with the towel wrapped around me, Cole isn't here anymore. A part of me is relived but a part of me is upset. What is wrong with me?
I change into more comfortable clothes, and walk over to my door to go downstairs. I run right into Tiffany, I really need to look before I go out my door.
"I am so sorry!" I say. placing my hands over my mouth, as if I had just pushed her off a cliff. She laughs, showing off her perfect, white teeth. "It's fine. I need to look before I come down this narrow hall. Actually. I was looking for you." I smile, "Me?" She nods.
"Jeremiah is looking for you, he's out back in the yard painting." Painting? Wow. I tell her thank you and go to the kitchen and get an apple then go out back.
"Hey." I say, cheerfully. Jeremiah turns and see's me, smiling. "Tiffany said you were looking for me?" He nods his head. "I wanted to know if you would go into town with me and get some paint supply's, I'm running low." I smile.
"Of course I'll go with you!" He smiles, getting up and collecting his things, I take a glance at what he's painting, and.... wow.
