"You paint?" I ask looking at the painting of the Miller's backyard. He smiles and looks down at the painting in his hands, "Yeah I do. I don't really tell anyone though, you know I kinda keep to myself a lot." I smirk, "No, really I haven't noticed." I say, sarcastically. He laughs, "Ha.Ha very funny. We should get going before it gets dark."
After getting back from the store, we could clearly hear a fight going on in the house. I look at Jeremiah and he gives me a 'sorry' look, as we head up stairs nearing the fight.
"You don't f*cking call dips! I did before they even showed up! Why can't you just deal with it?" I hear Cole? Maybe. I'm not really sure.
"I'm sorry Lauren, I'll see if I can go calm this down." Jeremiah walks into the room, leaving me stranded in the hallway.
"Really guys?! I hope you know that she can hear you guys! You need to stop this...this...whatever this is." Jeremiah yells, his voice getting louder.
"Who invited you into this conversation?" Adam yells, I think.
"Why are you standing out here?" I jump, seeing Stevie walking down the hall towards me.
"Jeremiah told me to wait here while he breaks up the fight." Stevie rashes his eye brows at me, "Fight?"
"Fight. Between brothers. I'm not really sure what about, but I'm pretty sure it's about a girl." Stevie rolls his eyes. "Go away, and let them be boys!" I laughed, then decided to let them battle it out, and go back to my room. I put all my stuff in my new backpack, and picked out my clothes for my first day of school, deciding on my favorite pair of Hollister jeans, a white lace tank, and gold sandals.
"Cole! Your girlfriends here!"
It echoes through the whole house. Never ending. I hear the words as if someone had been standing in my room, yelling them in my ear. I hear them fresh. All the flirting, all the complements, all lies. I drop onto my bed and start to cry.
"What girlfriend?" I hear Cole yell.
"SHUT UP! JUST STOP YELLING, AND SHUT.UP!" I swing the door open and yell down the hall, just as I catch Coles eyes, and he sees just how much pain I'm in, I slam the door shut, locking it behind me, right as he reaches out.
I slump onto the bed, and let it all out.
Everything. Everything! Everything in my life...is gone! And just when I think I have a good thing coming into my life, it slips right out. Right through my finger tips, like a bar of soap in the shower. Right out from under me.
"Lauren, please! Come on! They're messing around, please let me in!" I wipe the snot from my nose, and stand with my back against the door.
"Go away Cole!" I cry at him. I hear him sigh, and I let out a whimper and let a tear roll down my cheek.
"Please, Lauren. I don't know why they said that, it was Adam. I'm sorry please let me in." Adam said that?
I sniffle, "Adam said that?" I ask, wiping the tear off my cheek. He lets out the breathe he's been holding. "Yes. Please Lauren. Let me in." I stand there, listening to his heavy breathing. "Lo..." I feel my breathe hitch as he uses my nickname that only my family and close friends use.
