Lina's POV

After days of the bittersweet agonizing bliss of having my mate finally accept me, I can feel her strong as ever. Her adoration for me suddenly is swelling in her heart from what was once disgust and hatred. She has quickly opened her heart to me when I was almost ready to give up. The goddess knew what she was doing. She knew Elia would see the truth, that were not all monsters. I try to communicate with her as much as I can, purposely going to the outer rim to hear her better. What makes it unbearable is the fact that I can't touch her as I please, pull her in for a kiss, steal her breath away as our bodies meld with one another...I'm getting hot sitting here at my desk just thinking of it.

"Lina, were even listening to a word I said?" I look up, snapping out of lalaland as my parents stand in front of me, papa's hands on his slender hips.

"I'm sorry, what's happening?" I squeeze my eyes shut, rubbing my face totally not paying attention.

"I said we would like to take you out to lunch today so we can talk. I've gone through things with my therapist and she says I'm ready...and I finally feel ready if you're up for it." I finally look up to my parents giving them my full focus. This was the last thing I expected on my to do list today.

"You're...serious? You're really ready to tell me everything?"

"Yes...it's time sweetheart." Dad takes his hand, giving it a squeeze.

"You deserve to know," my dad nods.

"Okay then...I need a minute to get ready but I'll meet you downstairs."

"Okay, princess. We'll wait for you downstairs, we'll take the car." Papa nods and heads with Dad downstairs. Once the door is shut and I'm alone with my thoughts, I feel a little...nervous. I'm not sure what I'm looking to hear from them but I feel uneasy about it. I don't know what they could possibly tell me but it feels like my heart dropped.

Do you think whatever it is will be too much for us to handle?

No...I mean...I don't know. I don't know what they could tell us. It really must be serious they want to sit me down like this.

It's...a little terrifying. We should go. We need to know the truth.

You're right...we do. We should go now. I stand up looking myself in the mirrored frame around the doors, adjusting my ash gray hoodie and knee length jean shorts. I head downstairs to meet my parents and the 3 of us head to the car. The drive into town is quiet. There's pop music playing quietly on the radio as we cruise along in the high end SUV. I stare out the tinted window as we begin to emerge from the woods and into the human's town. It's strange sometimes knowing that we look just like them but we live completely different lives. We have the blood of royals, the spirits of wolves, and they're just...human. We've never looked down on them. We are allied with them but they stay out of our world and we mask ourselves in theirs. It's strange that we have to pretend we're some sort of myth or story they tell the kids before bed. We live in harmony though so I can't really complain. Once we arrive at the restaurant we sit in silence for a bit. Nothing too fancy or anything. I sit across from my parents, pulling at the edges of my sleeves. I don't really know if I should speak or wait for them to talk. Papa clears his throat. "I know you're probably wondering why we brought you out here instead of just talking at home..." Papa starts.
