Chapter 29

Another week is gone, the weather is getting nicer by the day. It's nearing summer now. I feel like somehow the heat is affecting me. When I was training this morning I just felt beyond tired and woozy. Dad forced me to relax the rest of the day. Elia aided him in that endeavor. It actually felt nice to rest with her. I actually almost passed out on the trail from running. I swear it wasn't actually that hot out. I'm now stuck sitting in Nathan's infirmary, waiting for him to come in and take a look at me. Elia is sitting in the supportive chair, her leg is bouncing and her arms crossed over her chest as we wait for Nathan to come into the room.

"Elia, please. You have to relax my love," I plead with her.

"Don't tell me to relax. You nearly gave me a heart attack this morning. I'm not letting you out of my sight until we figure out what's wrong with you. Even then I probably still won't."  My mate says sternly. I sigh, just giving up. She's really pissed. I tried to tell her I was okay and I didn't need help and she was not having it. She quite literally threw me over her shoulder and carried me here. She's been stressed not hearing much from the people she thought she had support from. It seems Grace must've told them something to make them back off. Now here I am, making her worry about me on top of that. Just swing my legs in anticipation for Nathan.
Just now, Nathan finally arrives walking through the door after Elia practically threatened him to check me out or else.

"So, I heard you fainted." He starts.

"I wouldn't say fainted-"

"I quite literally had to catch her in my arms. Please just figure out what the hell is going on with her?"

"Alright, alright, settle down Elia. I get you're worried and rightfully so but you getting snippy is not going to help either of you. I'm here to help, alright?" Elia huffed and leaned back in her chair. "Good. Now tell me, Lina, have you been experiencing any symptoms leading up to your fainting?"

"Well...I swear I've been overheating lately, not sure why, it's not because I've gone into heat and it hasn't even been super hot. I've been so hungry lately I could eat a horse. I've been a bit light headed and a bit more winded when I work out which is...weird because we barely ever tire out as Alpha's."

"I see....and when did you last experience yourself in heat?" Thinking back on it...Elia and I have been together nearly a month now and I haven't been in heat since our first night together. "It's been quite some time hasn't it? Probably the longest it's ever been since you've had them, right?" He questions.

"Yeah...should I be concerned?" I ask him, looking between him and Elia.

"Not....concerned. I would like you to take a test for me. I just want to be certain."

"Certain...?of what?"

"Well," he looks between Elia and myself, "it's very likely you're expecting."

"Oh..." I say...then the realization hits me. All of my symptoms have been getting worse by the day. "Ohhh..."

"Yeah. I'll just need a blood sample from you and I can get you your results momentarily."

"Okay...let's do it I guess." I shrug, leaning back and giving Nathan my left arm to draw blood from. Elia scoots closer to hold my right hand as Nathan sticks in the needle. After the blood is drawn, he leaves to test it. I look to Elia and she looks back up at me.
"Are you nervous?" I ask her.

"No, I'm not nervous. I meant what I said when we talked about this before. I am here for you and this baby, no matter what. I don't care how soon or later it is, I'm here to take care of you...of us. Our little family." I can't help but smile. As insane as it sounds, it's only been a short amount of time and I feel as if I've know my Elia forever and we've been together even longer. I should be scared by that being as she has been my only partner I've ever had but I'm not. She makes me feel safe, cared for...something I thought I may never have. I can whole heartedly say I love her, whether it's the goddess's manipulation or not. It's what I feel. I really have to tell her.
