AN: The disassociation is based off of what my parents and friends say I do when I disassociate. It's different for everyone. Also, sensitivity to soaps and foods will be brought up along with eating disorders mentioned but not talked about.
The missive started with a personal note:
-Erestor,
I trust you to care for Glorfindel in my absence. There is a possibility that Glorfindel will be disassociated and may mentally regress to a younger age. It is not abnormal for the Vanyar to do so when stressed or when traumatic events are relived. Lindir and the other councilors will be taking care of the Valley. Most of the soldiers are aware of the possibilities of Glorfindel's reaction to the bad weather. The scholars and councilors are aware as well. I have tried to get Glorfindel to accept more clothing but he insisted that he buy himself all the necessities and nothing more. For the love of Eru, make sure he actually gets some boots that fit him! I included a part of a diary that I found. He has an eating disorder that has never been treated. He was apparently more picky than even I was. You haven't noticed the markings behind his ear, have you? I'd strongly suggest that you keep him in your sights and figure out how you feel about him. He needs all the help he can get. Good luck, Erestor! Galadriel sends her regards!
Elrond~
Erestor sighed as he read the rest of the packet, careful of the hand he was holding. Glorfindel's arms looked more red than earlier. Was Glorfindel allergic to certain soaps? Was that why he refused to allow the launders to clean his clothes? Was this the reason for the blanket hidden under the couch?
As Erestor pondered the possibility, he absently rubbed his thumb in a circle over and over on the no longer limp hand. He pretended not to notice as Glorfindel had a very blank expression on his face. There was absolutely no recollection in the blue eyes. He noticed the golden petals admise the bluest of blue eyes and wondered how he had missed that detail. A Radiant Flower indeed, Erestor snorted mentally. Glorfindel was staring at him. He made up his mind.
"Hello, dove. Are you hungry?" Erestor asked, not expecting a response. Glorfindel just continued to look at him. Erestor kept his voice soft and soothing as he helped Glorfindel to sit up. Glorfindel's eyes shifted to the wall behind him, allowing Erestor to move him. Erestor took a moment to allow Glorfindel's body to adjust to the new position before helping him to the small table, keeping the fire out of his sight in case it caused any distress to the golden elf. He had moved the food here earlier, thankful for the ease at which Glorfindel moved.
Lindir had just opened the door behind Glorfindel. He winced at the short hair, mouthing if Erestor needed help, the chest placed softly by the wall. Erestor shook his head. He had it under control for now. Lindir motioned to the spot on Glorfindel's other side, silently asking if he could sit for a few minutes. Erestor was uncertain until a much louder clap of thunder than the others shook the rooms themselves. The storm was here to stay for a while, apparently. There were tears in the blue eyes, the only reaction Glorfindel had since he had entered the rooms since he had fallen asleep. Erestor nodded immediately.
Lindir immediately sat down, humming a little happy tune. The tears stopped at the humming. The meal passed about the same as the others. Erestor found that Glorfindel didn't move unless moved and didn't eat unless being spoon fed the soup. Lindir was quick to talk to Glorfindel. After thirty minutes, Erestor moved Glorfindel to meet his eyes.
"Do you know your name?" Erestor asked very gently, realizing that Glorfindel was further disassociated than he had originally thought. Glorfindel mouthed his name, nothing coming out.
"Do you remember where you are?" There was no response. Erestor just nodded.
"It's alright. You are safe, Glorfindel. You are in your rooms in Rivendell. I will make sure that you will stay safe." Although Erestor's tone was light, he had meant every word he had uttered. Lindir was kinda lost but nodded with exaggerated, very big moves. It prompted Glorfindel to also slightly nod, not at his words but at the prompt. Lindir instantly nodded to Erestor before saying goodbye to Glorfindel and leaving the rooms.
