~ YAEL ~
Yael swallowed hard as she caught the fabric of her dress between two fingers. She pursed her lips as she ruminated. Since she came to the island, she had only one thing she owned. But -
The door flew open.
Lucy came walking in. "Hey, Yael, morning shower?" Duncan turned his head towards the door, a half smile still on his face.
"Okay," Yael said with a nod.
Lucy came over to her side and carried her to the bathroom, where she set her into the bathtub after peeling her dress from her.
"Lucy," Yael said.
"Yeah?"
"You play card game with Duncan?"
"Sure, I do. Sometimes."
"Bet money?"
The scoff that came from Lucy was so instant, it surprised Yael. "As if I'll ever do that."
"Why?"
"You don't gamble with that guy."
"But why?" Yael protested, trying hard to understand.
"You just don't."
Why wasn't anyone telling her what she wanted to know? Yael groaned in her mind, frustrated because it felt like she was being kept in the dark about some secret. She continued trying to get it out of Lucy, but her answers were short and full of no answers. When she was finally done helping her wash up, Lucy carried her back to the bed and sat at the table with Duncan.
"Play game?" Yael said to them. Duncan raised a brow at Lucy.
"Sure," Lucy said. Duncan began dealing the both of them cards but Lucy was seated at an angle, and Yael craned her neck to see what cards she was holding. Her body neared the edge of the bed, and her legs approached it.
"Ouch!" Yael cried out as her leg almost fell off the bed. She caught it, bringing it back onto the bed. They returned to her and the next moment she lifted her head again, Duncan was at her side, tending to her carefully. "I'm alright," she told him.
"How do your legs feel?" Duncan asked her.
"Painful," she said.
He sat on the edge of the bed and touched his hands to her calves. Slowly, he kneaded them, his fingers spread out on her smooth skin. The heat from his hands enveloped her legs and her heart picked up a little.
"Thank you," Yael said.
He pushed against her skin, his hands moving gently on her. His attention was fully on her legs, his expression one of deep concentration. The way he looked, Yael thought, she liked it very much. He looked up at her with a small smile, kindness spilling from his eyes.
"Does this make you feel better?" Duncan asked her.
"Yes."
"Any way you want it?"
Yael stared between Duncan and her legs. "The other one." His hands left her right leg for her left. He massaged them gently, and the pain dissipated. She laughed softly, pleased that he was being so kind to her. The way his hands felt on her -
From the corner of her eyes, she caught Lucy looking at the both of them with a serious expression on her face. Yael thought nothing of it and returned her attention to Duncan.
"Harder," Yael told Duncan, and he applied more pressure.
"Like this?"
"Yes!" Yael said. He pressed his fingers into her calves. Yael smiled, then looked over at Lucy again. She still had the same expression on her face and was watching the both of them closely. Yael couldn't place what emotion Lucy seemed to be feeling, but she knew for sure that something had disturbed her. "It feels good."
"That's all that matters," Duncan said.
Yael smiled brightly, just as she sent another glance at Lucy. She truly looked so disturbed. Like there was something going on that was wrong. She wondered if she should ask her about it. The way she was looking at them, it was almost...
As if she hated what she was seeing.
