~YAEL~
The month progressed, and the closer Yael came to that date, the more uneasy she grew. She would often try to block out her nagging thoughts when he was around, but when he was outside at the garden, she thought endlessly about how badly she wanted him to not visit Maya's grave.
But the moment that thought crossed her mind, guilt would fill her. She knew it was the least he was doing for someone who had saved his life, but she couldn't stop thinking about how he once loved her so much that he had said all those words to her when she told him to move on from Maya in the past. She shook her head from side to side, but the thoughts did not abate. She hated the way she was feeling, but she couldn't help it. The only thing that kept happening was Maya's face showing in her parents' faces, the faces of her bullies, and her ex's face.
She was set to marry Duncan the day before he planned to visit her grave, and it made her so nervous. She was overjoyed that he wanted to move to her country for her, and his only request was to have a small wedding with Lucy there. She agreed happily.
She made a hole in the blinds and peeked out. Duncan was still working the garden. She removed her finger and got off the bed, walking around. But her feet took her to the calendar.
That day was fast approaching.
She pursed her lips. He probably couldn't hear her thoughts right now, but she considered her next steps. He disliked it when she left the house because of that small faction of KKK who was aware she existed, but she decided to follow him to Maya's grave.
She needed to see and hear for herself what Maya still meant to him.
