As alway, enjoy, but go to my ao3 work with the same name to get the full version without having to wait. There are 3 chapters in total that I split into 6 for Wattpad, so we're half way done. I appreciate any comments and stuff because this is how I get all of my socialisation.

The footsteps turned the corner, placing the person in front of the sofa that obscured his view. Tommy tried to shrink down even further, but it instead hurt from the amount of pressure he’d put himself in.

Though, Tommy found he didn’t want to fearfully hide anymore, not when his mind was instead consumed by the familiarity of the man who’d just turned the corner. Not when every inch, every crack, every inky dot on his mask screamed of happy memories, not when it was Dream.

“Meow...?” He meowed, looking into where he assumed Dream’s eyes were.

Dream laughed, a melodic sound in such a situation despite the discordant, tainted noise that usually emerged. Tommy didn’t mind he was safe; Dream would protect him. He could relax. Tommy scratched roughly against his cage door in an instinctive desire to be freed, a desire he gladly indulged in.

“Aww, does someone want out? Fine, Patches, I’ll let you out…”

Tommy breathed out a sigh of relief he didn’t know he was holding, a certain calmness washing over him. It was funny, how there was this odd fear that Dream thought he was a cat. But the use of that -stupid- nickname? That fully reassured Tommy he was in safe, loving hands.

Dream dutifully allowed him exit from the cage with a quick click of the lock. Tommy raced out of the cage, purring appreciatively at Dream. To show his thanks, he brushed up on Dream’s leg, to mutual pleasure. Tommy was, of course, embarrassed about the catiness of the movement, but it got to the point.

Tommy was still enthralled in his pleasure-filled haze when Dream grabbed him by the body, lifting him up and preventing his movements. He looked around in Dream’s hand, snapping out of it, and began to thrash out of his masked friend’s hold. Of course, Tommy loved Dream, but the hold Dream had on him was uncomfy and awkward, so Tommy couldn’t by any means force himself through suffering just for Dream.

Except punishments, but they at least made sense.

“Calm down, Patches, calm down!” Dream said, using the same insufferable cat voice he’d used before, except much, much more patronising. It was as though Tommy had failed a test, and failure meant more cat voice. Tommy wished he could have physically cringed to show Dream the full extent of his displeasure, but his cat body wouldn’t comply.

To Dream’s credit, the masked man had in fact rotated his hold on Tommy to something more manageable, but it still wasn’t perfect. As Tommy was small enough to fit inside Dream’s arms, he’d taken to cradling Tommy as though he were merely a baby, an act which Tommy found wholly humiliating, despite the encounter being between the two of them with no other in sight.

Tommy still didn’t like it, and attempted to scratch the man, but instead of his claws launching into Dream with instinctive precision, Tommy found his paws merely bounced off, as though he were a cuddly toy.

“Patches, no hitting! Oh- Don’t hurt yourself.” Dream sighed, as though Tommy really was a disobedient cat. Tommy thought for a moment. Dream had called him Patches for months, so it wasn’t too odd. But Dream’s cat from before?

He’d been called Patches, before Sapnap had got to the creature. Tommy tried to neutralise the thought, screaming ‘DIE!’ to his own thoughts as he’d done many a time. But it didn’t work, as the fact was such an important, poignant truth that was simply unignorable.

Tommy hissed his displeasure, hoping Dream could understand the nickname problems. It seemed he didn’t, as all Dream did was sigh the same way before, in the same stupid patronising way. Tommy almost couldn’t handle it, but he instead decided to let himself internalise it, seeing as he couldn’t do much about it anyway.
