“Can you believe the son was holding his corpse smiling, it's insane, he has to have been the killer.” She cut off the radio, looking at a picture of a guy, he had shoulder length dark hair, tied in a bun and bright yellow green eyes, the piercing on the right of his nose and the tattoos on his neck were adding the the beauty of his tough jawline and thick eyebrows, his skin as smooth as a porcelain doll. She put the picture back in her glove box as drove into her hometown on an old dirt road, her parents were uneasy living by themselves with a serial killer on the loose, Libitina had heard about this killer ,for context, mysterious murders were happening in salvasina, all were men above the age of 25, and they all were divorced, that was the only thing connecting them which left police confused. The only reason they knew it was the same killer each time was because, each victim was laid on their back, the killer would cut open the victim and remove the heart, and carve the sentence, “fox is not heartless” into the victims back. They called the killer the crimson fox or kitsune (KIT-TS-NEH), because they wore a traditional japanese fox mask they were so sly they never even left a fingerprint at the scene, the police had no leads on who it was and no suspects, the media were getting angry that they couldn’t find someone with 15 murders over their head, 2,000 dollars for any information at all. They were never caught on CCTV,only ever a glimpse of the mask, it was as if the killer was taunting them. The mask was black, with red stripes on it and bells on red tassels. Since Libitina only lived an hour away from her parents she decided to stay with them till the killer was caught or the killings died down. When she walked in the house she was greeted with the smell of mothballs, Vanilla and musky wood, it smelled like her childhood. Her parents ran to greet her as she entered the house, “Libitina,mija(MEE-HA), welcome home” her mother yelled in her thick spanish accent, she pulled Libitina into a hug, her mother always smelled like vanilla and moth balls. “Mami, Papi, how are you guys?” Libitina groaned as her father squeezed her into a tight bear hug giving her a noogie. “Libi come here '' her mother pulls her to the living room to show her something on the tv. The man on the news channel started “It's said that when the police got there he was smiling eerily holding his fathers cadaver, he was covered from head to toe in blood. Rigor mortis had already set in which told the police the boy had hesitated before calling 911, he is still in custody but they have found no evidence he was the killer, all they have on him is that he was there and covered in blood. They did in fact release his name to the public, his name is “Ambrose santania '' they hav- The tv suddenly shut off, as Libi’ looked over she saw that her mother was tearing up, her father looked disappointed and sad. “Mami, i'm sure he didn't do it, i believe in him,” Libi’ didn't know what else to say, She just saw her childhood best friend on the news being accused of murdering his father, sure, his father was an abusive alcoholic but she was sure her best friend didn’t do it. she had a slight smile etching itself into her face “come now i’m sure he will be fine, they will clear his name soon enough, come on mami lets go to bed it's late.” She walked with her mother and father upstairs “goodnight mami, goodnight papi.''She hugged both her parents and walked into her room. It hasn't changed a bit since high school, from the giant mural of the Puerto Rican flag covering the wall behind her bed to the mirror covering the entire wall across from it, it was all still there. She put her bags in her closet. Sighing before grabbing a light blue tight fitting dress, She grabbed a box and snuck out of the window.
